Glossier Is Getting In On the Lip Oil Craze In the Most Glossier Way
Meet Lip Glaze.

Glossier
From the start, Glossier has cemented itself as a next-gen beauty brand. But we know it’s never a good idea to live solely in your own age range’s ideals—even if your generation is the one to watch. Sometimes, it’s fun to borrow inspiration and favorites from your elders or the youth. What do we all want? Lip oils! And K-Pop. Duh.
On May 20, Glossier is launching Lip Glaze, a “next-gen lip oil” with an innovative new formula. Made to provide refreshment, care, and a sheer wash of color for an “effortless, everyday glow,” the product is available in six shades. There’s one for each member of LA-based and K-Pop-inspired girl group Katseye, the face of the campaign.
Ahead, learn everything there is to know about Lip Glaze—including Team Byrdie’s honest thoughts on the formula and payoff.

Glossier
The Inspiration
Lip oils are so hot right now. Glossier knows this, and knows that we’ve been waiting for their take on a lip balm and lip gloss hybrid. The vision is nourishment and shine, but no stickiness.
There are six shades available (including this season’s favorite baby blue!), each of which corresponds to a member of the girl group and is reminiscent of a summertime trip to the ice cream shop (a good setting to listen to the band’s upcoming EP, perhaps?). Daniela got the aforementioned clear blue Icy, Lara got the rich red brown Melty, and Manon got warm rose Creamy. For Megan: the coral pink Tangy. Cool baby pink Chilly went to Sophia and clear lilac Frosty belongs to Yoonchae.
“At Glossier, we celebrate beauty in real life, the freedom of expression, having fun, and being you” CEO Kyle Leahy explained in a press release. “Our partnership with KATSEYE brings that ethos to life–a multinational group of super-talented women, each with unique personalities who embody the individuality that Glossier is all about. No matter where you are in your beauty journey–you look good.”

Glossier
The Formula
Cooling and creamy, Lip Glaze is made up of skincare-inspired oils—raspberry seed and apricot are the most notable—plus liquid shea butter and the brand’s cooling, minty agent Chilled Glaze to refresh your pout and keep you pretty all day long.

Glossier
It looks fab when applied thanks to the sheer glaze of color and shine, but the formula is also doing some internal work to nourish your lips so they’ll be softer and smoother in the long run. Win win win win win win?? (That’s a win for each Katseye member and corresponding shade.)
My Review

Byrdie
Glossier recommends swiping Lip Glaze onto your bare lips or using it as a finish over your favorite lip product. Anticipating the product becoming a summer staple, I decided to use mine solo. The less you have on in those warm months, the better. Before even looking in the mirror, I could feel the melty formula’s Chilled Glaze agent at work. You know how a lip plumper burns? This is the nice twin to that feeling. There’s a serious coolness involved that made my lips feel taken care of.
When I didlook in the mirror, I was met with impressive shine and a pretty wash of color. (I’d decided to go with the clear lilac shade Frosty after recently becoming enchanted with the brand’s soft lilac Cloud Paint, Soar.) Though the cooling eventually faded and I did find myself reapplying every so often to up the gloss factor, my lips felt continually refreshed after that initial swipe.
Also… that plushy doe foot applicator?! Its perfect. Pressing it to my lips and feeling it gently give up the oil gave me the same kind of satisfaction as squeezing out a really sudsy sponge. Consider me glazed, and stream “Debut.”
