If wrapping yourself up in a blanket is your preferred form of loungewear, then Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Robe won’t disappoint. Coming from the brand known for its fuzzy socks, it’s essentially a blanket in robe form. The polyester microfiber was oh-so fuzzy and cozy, and it had a nice weight and stretch to it, making it ideal for colder months when we truly want to bundle up. We were also pleasantly surprised that the plush material absorbed any runoff water and dampness from the body, leaving us warm and dry.

The robe only comes in four sizes—we got the smallest one, and even so, it was very long on the 5-foot-3-inch frame of our tester and a bit too long in the sleeves, making us believe the robe runs large. Bet hey, that only further plays into the giant blanket aesthetic. While the fabric didn’t have any issues with shedding or lint, it does require a bit more attention to maintain the fluffiness, so be sure to double-check the care instructions before throwing it into the wash.

As the creator of our beloved slippers, Ugg did not surprise us by making thesoftest robe. Made from a double-face fleece knit, the robe was extremely cuddly and warm. While some robes have annoying tags or seams, nothing about this robe irritated our skin, and even at 37 weeks pregnant, our tester felt unrestricted and comfortable while wearing it. We did order one size up to accommodate their growing tummy, and the robe ran true to size with the sleeves and hem all falling in the right places. The plush material didn’t shed or wrinkle, and the robe stayed in tip-top shape after wearing and washing it consistently. Though the material wasn’t as absorbent as a terry cloth or a waffle robe, we couldn’t get over how delightful it felt against our skin, and it easily became our favorite robe for lounging ever.

On those mornings when we are so rushed, we don’t have time to towel dry; this is the robe we reach for. Inspired by the brand’s Super-Plush towels, this robe is made of combed, long-staple Turkish cotton, so it dried us up every time we threw it on straight from the shower. Putting it on felt like being embraced in a warm hug, yet not too hot. In fact, it’s great for year-round wear.

Because it’s made from 100% cotton, it has no stretch, so we recommend sizing up if you prefer an oversized fit. The sleeves were a bit too long on our petite frame, but we could easily roll them up. We also recommend washing the robe before wearing it for the first time—we didn’t do this and were covered in fuzz after the first wear. Once we washed it, the robe didn’t shed anymore. Still, we think the luxurious feel and absorbent material make it worth the price.

If you fall in the latter camp, Amazon’s Waffle Robe is for you. Made from a blend of cotton and polyester, the robe was soft and super lightweight, perfect for wearing all year round. Because it wasn’t bulky, we could easily tie it shut and move around as we got ready without feeling restricted or like it could pop open at any moment. The two outside pockets were wide and deep, ideal for stashing our phone or keys while we grabbed the mail. The material performed way better than $25 could suggest—we didn’t notice any fuzz, lint, discoloration, or wrinkles as we wore and washed it. We’re also impressed that it comes in such a wide size range—up to 7X in certain colors. For those who want an affordable, practical waffle robe, this one is it.

Skims is one of the few brands offering a robe that goes up to size 4X and down all the way to XXS. Besides the extensive size range, we instantly fell in love with the robe’s unique material. Made from buttery soft modal, the short robe is a great option for those who don’t want the bulkiness of a plush robe but still want something cozier than silk. The ribbed fabric had a decent weight to it that was quite comforting against the skin and prevented wrinkles, even straight from the package. The material also didn’t pile, stretch out, or shed at all during the testing period.

Despite keeping our apartment on the cooler side, we didn’t get chilly with this robe on, nor did we overheat. The fit itself was the right balance of being loose yet not oversized. Our only complaint was that the sleeves were a bit too long and we couldn’t easily roll them up, but that’s not a deal breaker.

How do you know a robe is good? When the thing you are most looking forward to when you come home is putting it on. That’s exactly how we felt about Restoration Hardware’s plush long robe. The fluffy fabric felt absolutely delightful against our skin, and we appreciated that the long length allowed our legs to be wrapped up in softness. While plush robes can sometimes feel hot and stuffy, we never overheated in this robe, even when the weather was 90 degrees outside. We were also pleasantly surprised that the material didn’t shed, nor did it lose its fluffy texture after washing. With two deep pockets, this robe was the ultimate companion when binge-watching a show on our couch—we stuffed the pockets with fries for the ultimate TV snack (don’t judge us!). The sleeves were a tad too long, but that can be forgiven. If you have a loved one who enjoys lounging as much as us, order the monogrammed version for the perfect gift.

After constantly hearing people rave about Parachute’s robes, we decided to test out the short waffle robe, and we now understand the hype. It felt like a luxury hotel bathrobe, and we could tell the material was high-quality thanks to the precise stitching and lack of loose threads. Unlike those thick, long robes we might only wear in cold weather, this robe’s cotton waffle weave was so light and breathable that we reached for it daily regardless of the temperature.

We went with our typical size, and the robe was slightly oversized, but we didn’t consider that a bad thing. Due to the loose fit, we easily layered pajamas underneath and still felt unrestricted to move around freely. The robe had no problem staying shut, likely due to the texture of the fabric. We were even impressed by the low-maintenance washing instructions and how good the fabric looked after wearing and washing. Needless to say, the robe exceeded our expectations.

The smooth modal stretched beautifully over our changing body, staying shut and fully covering our belly, thanks to the extra-long belt. One of the many changes that happen to the body during pregnancy is running warmer and heightened sensitivity to fabrics, so the lightweight soft modal kept us cool and irritation-free. Not to mention the fabric didn’t pill, fade, or stretch out either.

Yet the biggest game changer is the sleeve length. While many robes come with extra-long sleeves, these end before the wrists. As a mother, we don’t want to be constantly pushing up our sleeves or else have them dangling in breast milk, baby powder, or diapers. It’s such a small change, yet it makes such a big difference. On top of that, we simply love how chic and refined this robe looks, rather than screaming “maternity!” We’ll be wearing it postpartum for sure.

Besides the aesthetics, the robe was quite functional. The silk was lightweight and breathable, yet it didn’t feel too flimsy or cheap. It’s one of the few silk robes our tester tried that actually stayed close after tying, even over her pregnant belly. Seriously. We’ve noticed Cuyana’s sizes generally run large, so our tester sized down in this robe, and it fit her changing body perfectly. She’s confident it will fit postpartum too. Our tester loves it so much that she plans on bringing it to the hospital when giving birth, because hey, you’ve got to deliver in style.

We’ll admit there are times when we get behind on our laundry, and we keep on wearing the same old bathrobe, but with this Cariloha number, we don’t have to feel bad about it. Thanks to a blend of bamboo, cotton, and polyester, this robe wicked away moisture and resisted odors, further stretching our laundry cycle. We wore it daily during our test period, and we enjoyed how the robe retained heat and was very easy to move around in, with the belt staying intact. It does have that heavy, luxe spa-like feeling that may not be ideal in the summer, but is a dream the rest of the year. The inner lining is made from the brand’s Comfy Soft Bamboo, which is extra cozy. Though it only comes in two sizes, the large felt like it was made for us, with the sleeves hitting right at our wrists. And to top it all off, it’s a carbon-neutral product.
