Hailey Bieber’s Latest Look Came Straight From ’90s Cindy Crawford

Two supermodels, one effortlessly cool look.

When I saw Hailey Bieber’s look at the Saint Laurent fall/winter show during Paris Fashion Week, two comparisons immediately sprang to mind. First, I thought about the T-Birds from Grease, probably because of her leather jacket-and-sunglasses combo. But the more I looked, the more I was reminded of another supermodel: the one and only Cindy Crawford.

Bieber, who is an ambassador for the French fashion house, attended the show wearing her dark hair pulled up in an easy, cool twist styled by Bryce Scarlett. The upstyle was simple for sure, but Bieber is known for her effortless cool; she never tries too hard and sets trends in the process. Bieber’s hair was pulled back from her face and gathered at the crown of her head, with two tendrils pulled out on either side to brush across her face and over her skinny sunglasses. True to form, the Rhode founder stuck to her signature dewy, “glazed” skin, a flush of orange-red blush, and a subtle rusty lip color to match.

Are you seeing the vision? Because I am! When you think about ‘90s Cindy Crawford, you probably think of her big, hot-rolled curls with tons of volume and body, but in her off time, Crawford was as apt to pull her hair up in a twist like Bieber’s as she was to wear it down. These two pics from 1990 and 1991, respectively, are proof. (And some majorly timeless outfit inspo at that. I need those jeans, Cindy.)

More than 30 years may have passed between these photos, but that only shows how eternal the vibe is. Like Bieber, the supermodel is a big fan of the classic leather jacket and jeans ensemble, especially with a “less is more” beauty aesthetic. The ’90s resurgence shows about zero percent chance of slowing down in the near future, so grab your bobby pins, claw clips, and old-school Aqua Net hairspray to pay homage to Crawford too.
