We all have that one friend who, when we inevitably get the itch and start asking if we should get bangs, heroically steps up and tells you in no uncertain terms that you should not get bangs. But Emily Ratajkowski‘s designated fringe-talker-outer must not have been available in her moment of need because the model and actor has revealed that her decision to get bangs led to a rather regrettable haircut.

Being as candid as she is, Emrata was generous enough to share her… interesting new look on TikTok.

“Story time. Yes, I have a filter on because I have the worst haircut of my life, and I need to feel pretty. Okay, let’s go,” she says, switching from an innocuous middle-parted look to what I have to admit are strangely heavy, long, shapeless bangs.

“Oh, you thought I was going to be funny? Like, I have bangs on the back of my head,” Emrata says as she picks up a random, short piece of hair. She attempts to ease her own mind about the vibe it’s giving, but she doesn’t seem convinced.

“The very nice man who did this to me”—she doesn’t name names—”I think he was, like, going British shag. British shaggy. But, like, the main thing is it’s not me, you know? Shocking. Shocking.”

She attempts to blend them into her hair, saying, “I can hide it, you know? But, like, the wind hits and it’s…”

Being a very good sport, Ratajkowski followed up her original tale of woe with another TikTok in which she reenacts the haircut scene from Fleabag.

And I have to be honest, styling it with loose curls actually looks pretty damn good.

I mean, this is Emrata we’re talking about—it’s going to take more than just bangs that wrap around her entire head to make her look anything short of gorgeous.
