Before I had the opportunity to test hundreds of beauty products as part of my job, the semi-annual Sephora Savings Event was something I strategically planned for several weeks in advance. I’d take inventory of my product stash, noting what I needed to restock and what areas I could justify trying something new, add my desired items to cart, and of course, save up some money. All to say, I understand that ensuring you’re making wise purchase decisions with your hard-earned money during this rare sale is important.

So, I’ve spent the last week making (and editing and re-making) this curated list of the 10 products I would purchase from the sale if my entire beauty collection disappeared tomorrow. From a mascara I can’t stop raving about to a tinted moisturizer that’s perfect for everyday wear, there’s something for everyone on this list. While it’s important to acknowledge that products work differently for everyone, you have my word—these are 10 items I fully stand behind and would buy (and have bought in the past) with my own money.

All good beauty editors know the importance of wearing SPF daily, but admittedly, making sunscreen application part of my daily routine hasn’t been easy for me because nearly every one I’ve tried leads to breakouts. So when this one entered my life last year, I was completely shocked to find that after wearing it for five consecutive days, I didn’t break out (blemishes typically appear on the first or second day for me when testing SPF). Needless to say, it’s a fantastic formula I, and so many of my friends and colleagues, swear by. It’s lightweight and nongreasy, and it comes in three tinted options so it’s whitecast-free.

Tarte Tartelette Tubing Mascara

Unless I’m testing mascara for a story, you’ll rarely find me wearing a non-tubing formula. So many new tubing mascaras are launching, and I totally get why—they don’t smudge, and they’re so easy to remove. While there are several options in my rotation, I fell in love with this one from Tarte, especially in the brown shade. The color is a rich, chocolatey brown that looks beautiful when you want a softer look, and the formula creates voluminous, long, gorgeously defined lashes that never smudge or flake. If you need a mascara you can fully rely on, I highly recommend this gem.

Choosing just one blush to recommend was embarrassingly difficult for me. While I love cream blush as much as the next person, I haven’t stopped reaching for this new powder formula from Tower 28 since I got it. The shades are beautiful, and the powder texture blends seamlessly (which isn’t always the case with powders) and blurs the skin like no other blush I’ve ever tried. I highly recommend this pick for anyone looking for a powder pop of color on their cheeks this spring, but especially for people with textured or oily skin.

Tatcha The Rice Wash Skin-Softening Cleanser

A good cleanser is a staple in everyone’s skincare routine, and I love that this one from Tatcha gets the job done while adding a bit of luxury to an otherwise lackluster skincare step. The texture is creamy and comforting on the skin, and it has a fresh, spa-like scent that creates a nice sensorial experience. It’s powered by hyaluronic acid, red algae, and Japanese rice powder to cleanse skin gently without overstripping it.

Although I have a big rotation of moisturizers I love, this is the one I always come back to. It’s a rich (but not too thick or greasy) cream formulated with peptides that help maintain a healthy skin barrier. Seriously, it saves my skin whenever I’m experiencing sensitivity, irritation, or dryness. If you have oily skin, this is a great night cream, and if you have a dry skin type, I think you’ll love this for day and night.

While a contour product might not seem like one of the first things you’d buy if your beauty stash disappeared, hear me out. This liquid contour from Rare Beauty won me over the very first time I tried it, thanks to the pigmented and easy-to-apply formula that melts into the skin seamlessly. I find that while the shades lean more cool-toned, my end result when using it is a naturally sculpted look with a very subtle hint of warmth. It’s the perfect buy for anyone looking for a user-friendly contour for beautifully defined features.

Topicals Slick Salve Glossy Lip Balm

I have more lip products than I’d like to admit, so choosing just one to recommend took serious thought and consideration. But, I selected this beauty because it’s a super-hydrating lip balm—thank hyaluronic acid and ceramides for that—that doubles as a glassy, line-smoothing gloss. Plus, it’s affordable (for Sephora). I love using it on bare lips as an overnight treatment or over lip liner for a plump-looking finish.

Come springtime, I love reaching for lightweight complexion products over full-coverage foundations, and I know I’m not alone. If you’re looking for a tinted moisturizer that feels completely weightless but still offers visible coverage, I highly recommend this one from Milk. It has a serum-like texture that blends in seconds and creates a light veil of coverage that camouflages discoloration while maintaining a real-skin finish with a hint of glow. I also love that it layers seamlessly with other makeup, and unlike a lot of tinted moisturizers, it lasts nearly all day long without fading or migrating.

Nothing gives me confidence like a great hair day, and this is the tool that helps me achieve voluminous waves every time. The long barrel can fit the entire length of my hair without being too heavy or hard to control, and I appreciate that it has nine different heat settings so it’s suitable for a wide range of hair types. Every time I use this curling iron, I’m left with smooth, gorgeous curls that last.

No hairstyle is complete without a nourishing hair oil to lock in moisture and enhance shine. This one is my go-to because it’s hydrating without feeling greasy or weighing the hair down, making it a great option for different hair types. I also love that I can apply it on damp hair and it doubles as a heat protectant and boost of moisture.
