Rita Ora’s Curtain Bangs Honestly Remind Me of a Handlebar Mustache

The power of curtain bangs cannot be denied—just ask Rita Ora. The musician knows just how much a great curtain bang style can bring to an overall look, as evidenced by her glam from the Capital Summertime Ball in London: fringe so flippy and swirly, it reminds me of an old-school handlebar mustache!

Ora wore her hair in long, loose waves for the event, with her curtain bangs parted in the center and pushed to either side of her face, then curled into flipped-out, Farrah Fawcett-style swoops. And these aren’t subtle swoops, either—they’re bold, defined twirls with a retro appeal, and if you felt the urge to trace the screen and follow the curl, well, same!

The flipped-out bangs are a gorgeous way to set off her classic, minimal makeup of lightened, precise brows, long lashes, and a shiny, satiny cherry-red lip. When paired with her warm, coppery money piece highlights, which flow throughout her chocolate brunette base color, the bangs essentially work like one of those fancy gilded picture frames for her face.

Curtain bangs have been the bang style of this era, endorsed by stars like Sabrina Carpenter and Dakota Johnson. They’re a great “bridge” option for people who aren’t sure they want to live the fringe life 24/7, as you can easily brush them to the side and go bang-less when the spirit strikes. On the flip side—pun intended!—they add a cool, Stevie Nicks-esque vibe to every hairstyle. They’re arguably the most customizable bang style

Flippy hairstyles, too, were one of the biggest celeb hairstyle trends of 2024, and the vibe was definitely “the flippier, the better.” We saw the playful style on Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Saweetie, Halle Berry, and Jennifer Lopez on the red carpet and off, proving that when you need a little “oomph” in your hairstyle, all you gotta do is flip it out!
