As Lippmann sees it, red is (practically) a neutral this time of year. “The classic red manicure is here to stay and is one of my favorites,” she says. “It’s the perfect balance of boldness and neutrality, offering a versatile pop of color that suits any occasion.”

Dark Green

With Christmas and the evergreen season top of mind, Lippmann and Boyce agree that dark shades of green are very in style. “Dark green nails are trending for a few reasons this winter,” Lippmann reveals. “[The color] combines the look and feel of winter along with holiday spirit. Dark green carries a sophisticated, elegant vibe that answers the call for deeper, moodier tones in the winter.”

Burgundy

For a deeper, darker December nail look, Lippmann recommends opting for a burgundy manicure. “One of the standout trends this season is ‘Cherry Cola’—a bold mix of cherry red and brown that creates a daring yet chic vibe,” she says, adding that it’s another “bold yet neutral” nail look.

Dark Blues

Whether you’re craving an icy December nail look, the perfect Hanukkah manicure, or a bold New Year’s Eve set, Boyce says dark blue is a beautiful polish choice. Worn with a matte, satin, metallic, or glass finish, she assures us that dark blue nails are beautiful no matter how you wear them.

Chocolate Brown

Sweet shades of chocolate have been trending since early fall, and according to Bold, Boyce, and Lipmmann, they’re not going anywhere any time soon. “Neutral-toned colors are the perfect complement to warm clothing, creating a harmonious and effortlessly chic look for the colder months,” Bold says. “I’ve been absolutely loving all of the variations of brown this season,” adds Lippmann. “From classic rich browns to creamier deep nude tones, brown has become the go-to ‘it’ color. I definitely see browns continuing to dominate this season and beyond.”

Shimmery Black

Black nails during the holidays? It may come as a surprise, but black manicures are trending for December 2024. “The boldness of black polish adds a touch of sophistication and edge, effortlessly emphasizing the stark beauty of the season,” shares Bold. “It’s a chic and timeless way to embrace the colder months,” she says, making a stylish and seasonally inspired statement.

For a cheerier take on the color, Bold suggests opting for a shimmery finish. “Sparkly colors have an undeniable way of capturing the festive spirit, instantly reminding us of the magic and joy of the holiday season,” she says.

Whiteish-Beige

On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have the month’s most coveted truly neutral nail look. Where Lippmann refers to it as a shade of beige, nailsaloon nail artist Nina Fuller calls it almond. Mani moniker aside, this December, cozy, off-white manicures will pop up all over our feeds. “The neutral, creamy tone is versatile and effortlessly complements [the season’s] earthy palettes and cozy textures,” Fuller says. “My favorite neutral shades for the winter season—and always—are different shades of beige,” Lippmann says, adding that there’s a perfect whiteish-beige shade for everyone.

All Things Chrome

Last but not least, we have the topper of all toppers this holiday season: chrome, of course! “The perfect added design to any simple manicure for an elevated, clean look with barely any additional effort is still holding strong—just with a different take on the colors used,” Lippmann shares. “While there was a focus on the lighter, brighter colors with added chrome design, we are seeing a slight change into the cooler, darker colors.”
