It seemed like only yesterday that everyone (at least, in our neck of the woods) felt floored by the 4 p.m. sunsets, but here we are, a week shy from Thanksgiving and the last month of the year. While most social interactions tend to revolve around upcoming travel plans, I’m more interested in what everyone is wearing for the next few weeks—it’s party season! One of my favorite parts about working at Vogue is seeing how everyone styles themselves, and this time of year brings out a more decadent, dare I say, even playful side to dressing up. (Something my minimalist-loving coworkers on the Vogue Shopping desk would agree with!)

I’d argue that most of our sequins and velvets don’t get much airtime until the Friendsgiving plans make it out of the group chat, which is likely any minute. (Unless your definition of everyday sparkle goes beyond diamonds, in which case you might have also scored tickets to a Sabrina Carpenter concert and have been shimmying your way through fall!)

For holiday outfit inspiration, my colleagues have ample ideas for what you might want to wear for the RSVPs in your inbox. Fashion can bring so much joy, and putting together this edit did just that for me—what else are feathers for? Head of editorial content Chloe Malle put it perhaps best: “As far as I’m concerned, December in New York is time for velvet, sequins, bells, feathers—anything that would be appealing to a kitten!” Surely, the Dogues approve, too.

The most exciting thing about the holidays is the promise of time being cozy at home, so why not make even your holiday party style pajama-inspired? I love the festive slip dressing trend, particularly this La Ligne set paired with a velvet bow and fancy flats.

I just picked up this moody Dries Van Noten floral skirt, which feels effortless to dress up and down. These Agolde jeans have been like second skin since I got them; given I have no plans to wear anything else anytime soon, it’s only right I think of more creative ways to style them. For anything evening related, I’d rather do an embellished jacket than a party top, this one from Tory Burch is a dream. A little magpie accessorizing feels right here, and why fret over cold toes? There’s nothing cooler to me than a sheer tight and a heel.

Every year I beg my parents to host a holiday party so I have an excuse to wear my most uncomfortable and impractical festive numbers without having to leave the comfort of my house; however, this year I’ve decided that life is too short and I am going to use the month of December as an excuse to wear everything in my closet that I have saved for a “special occasion”!  You can catch me wearing sheer sequin skirts, red satin kitten heels, embellished purses, and beaded silk blouses all month long.

The holidays are always the best time to dress up to the max and my holiday party look is focused on my favorite new heels from Nou made by a Jersey girl (like me) Alexia Ioannou. My pair have a fabulous gem right at the center of the foot which makes it so much more perfect for the holidays but the gemless one is still available on site for those who missed out on the drop earlier this year.
