‘The Daily Show’ reacts to right-wing commentators turning on Trump

In the wake of midterm elections that were catastrophic for Republicans, do those on the right agree with Donald Trump refusing to take any of the blame?

Apparently not. In the Daily Show monologue above, host Jordan Klepper plays some clips of key figures appearing to criticise or distance themselves from the president.

“This is your guy. This is your brand. You have a decade of merch and idolatry behind him. You don’t want to turn on him just because of one, little generational collapse,” Klepper says. “So, time to lock in. Right-wing media, hit that reframe!”

Cue a clip of pundits like Matt Walsh and Ben Shapiro also criticising Trump, followed by Megyn Kelly saying “eh” after talking about Trump sharing a post to remind America he’s still president.

“Eh? Eh?” says Klepper. “Is she sassing the president? You don’t sass the president unless you’re Benjamin Netanyahu or Vladimir Putin!”
