The Philadelphia 76ers could not have asked for a better start to the season. Despite a major roster overhaul during the summer, the team opened the campaign with an impressive 8-1 record and quickly became one of the biggest talking points around the NBA.

The arrivals of LeBron James and Jaylen Brown confirmed that the Sixers were willing to go all-in on competing for a championship, and so far the strategy has produced immediate results.

Before the season began, one of the biggest questions was how a team with so many stars would function and whether everyone could find their place with only one basketball. That concern has not shown up on the court.

The main figures have accepted their roles, chemistry has developed faster than expected, and Philadelphia looks like one of the most balanced and dangerous teams in the league.

The 76ers’ spectacular start has already caught the attention of analysts and experts, including Chris Broussard, who believes the team has a strong case to become the top representative of the Eastern Conference.

On the show First Things First, Broussard said Philadelphia currently looks like the best team in the East and should be considered the favorite to reach the NBA Finals.

“Right now they (the 76ers) do look like they’re going to the Finals… They have beaten all the top teams, and you would believe if they can stay healthy that they are only going to get better.”

The analyst also highlighted how the big stars have managed to adapt and play together:

“For them to just come together all of a sudden, and all these guys with great individual talent and can put up individual numbers themselves, to mesh like this, they look great. Right now they definitely look like the best team in the East.”

Philadelphia’s biggest challenge: staying healthy

Although only nine games have been played, the strong start has raised expectations around the 76ers. The landscape in the Eastern Conference also appears to offer a unique opportunity for Philadelphia to take control.

The defending champion, New York, has had an uneven beginning at 4-4, including two losses to the Sixers. Most other teams in the conference have also started the season at or below .500.

In terms of individual talent, few teams can match Philadelphia. However, their greatest threat may not come from their rivals, but from their own history of injuries.

The biggest concern remains Joel Embiid, who has dealt with ongoing physical issues throughout his career. Still, when healthy, he continues to be one of the most dominant players in the entire NBA.

For that reason, the 76ers will need to carefully manage the workloads of Embiid and LeBron James, who is already 41 years old. The goal will not be to win every regular-season game, but to arrive at the decisive moment with their key stars available.

With Nick Nurse as coach, championship experience, and players accustomed to competing under pressure such as LeBron and Jaylen Brown, Philadelphia has all the ingredients to end a 25-year drought without reaching the NBA Finals.

If they can stay healthy, the 76ers could be the team that finally returns the franchise to basketball’s biggest stage.
