Summary
H. Moser & Cie. has collaborated with American football player Saquon Barkley to launch a limited-edition Pioneer timepiece
The watch is engineered with a 42.8 mm steel case a floating aventurine subdial and the skeletonized HMC 811 manufacture calibre
Production is strictly limited to 97 pieces worldwide featuring custom Super-LumiNova numerals honoring Barkley’s jersey number 26
H. Moser & Cie. has officially unveiled the Pioneer Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Aventurine Saquon Barkley, marking an exclusive horological collaboration developed alongside the American football star.
The partnership developed organically after H. Moser & Cie. co-owners Edouard and Bertrand Meylan met with Barkley at his home, discovering a shared alignment in craftsmanship and understated performance. “What inspires us about Saquon is not only what he achieves on the field. It’s everything that comes before it: the unseen hours of training, the discipline, perseverance and humility. Beyond the athlete is an authentic, curious and genuinely inspiring person. It’s a philosophy that feels very familiar to us,” said Edouard Meylan, CEO of H. Moser & Cie.
Built around the versatile Pioneer chassis, the timepiece features a 42.8 mm steel case with a water resistance rating of 120 metres. Inside, the fully skeletonized three-dimensional architecture exposes the HMC 811 manufacture calibre, driven by a cylindrical hairspring tourbillon handcrafted by the specialists at Precision Engineering AG. Positioned above the mechanical framework sits a domed aventurine subdial, designed to emulate the depth of a star-filled sky.
“I’ve always been drawn to skeleton watches. I love being able to see the complexity of the movement, while the watch itself can still feel incredibly pure and understated,” Barkley shared. “What I particularly like about this piece is how the aventurine dial stands out against the skeletonized movement. It catches your eye, and yet never feels ostentatious. That balance is exactly what I was looking for.”
Personalized motifs are integrated subtly throughout the build. The production run is restricted to 97 examples each selling for $99,000 USD in honor of Barkley’s birth year, while the dial’s Super-LumiNova® indices feature numerals 2 and 6 that illuminate in an exclusive color after dark to highlight his jersey number 26.
