Summary

MURCIÉLAGO reveals its central cast in a new teaser trailer.

Hitomi Ueda voices Kuroko Koumori, alongside Minori Suzuki and Sumire Uesaka.

The crime anime premieres in January 2027.

MURCIÉLAGO has unveiled a new teaser trailer that introduces the voices behind its central trio ahead of the TV anime’s January 2027 premiere.

The footage puts former death-row inmate Kuroko Koumori at the center, opening on a mugshot-like image of the scarred protagonist before showing flashes of her wielding an oversized handgun with an almost gleeful disregard for the violence around her. Hitomi Ueda will voice Kuroko, while Minori Suzuki joins as her partner and minder Hinako Tozakura, whose deceptively cheerful demeanor contrasts with her extraordinary driving skills. Sumire Uesaka rounds out the newly announced leads as Chiyo Yanaoka, Kuroko’s girlfriend and the daughter of a yakuza boss. The preview debuts all three performances while leaning into the manga’s collision of black comedy, gunplay and heightened violence, offering the clearest sense yet of how the adaptation plans to translate its deliberately unhinged tone to animation.

Adapted from Kana Yoshimura’s manga, which has run in Square Enix’s Young Gangan since 2013, MURCIÉLAGO follows Kuroko after she is spared execution and instead recruited as a state-sanctioned killer tasked with eliminating criminals whose brutality demands equally extreme measures.

The latest teaser follows the project’s earlier “super teaser” and January release-window announcement, further establishing the dangerous buddy dynamic between Kuroko and Hinako that drives the series. MURCIÉLAGO begins airing in Japan in January 2027, with HIDIVE set to stream the series in territories including the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
