Coming off the launch of “The Original,” a new campaign spotlighting adidas Originals’ staple apparel, JD recently reunited with Villanelle frontman Gene Gallagher for a special set in London’s Battersea Power Station.

Hosted in collaboration with Elevator Music, the set built on the music platform’s signature format of inviting artists and DJs into elevators for an intimate performance. Though it typically takes place against metallic silver doors, this edition brought a new dimension to the setup, with Gallagher’s band performing against the London skyline in the venue’s historic Chimney Lift.

For the show, Villanelle curated a setlist of popular hits including “Hinge,” “Some Chew Lip,” “Squeeze,” and “Placebo.” As they launched their grunge-rock sound up 109 meters, the band wore adidas Originals tracksuits. In line with the campaign’s celebration of self-expression and individuality, they styled the collection with T-shirts and sneakers that complemented their signature look.

Following the performance, Villanelle will tour the UK, headlining shows in Glasgow, Manchester and London next month. Meanwhile, adidas looks ahead to hosting more gigs in unique locations as part of The Original (Live). With Spanish artist MDA featuring in the previous installment, it is expected to expand its portfolio by spotlighting artists from a diverse array of genres.
