Sun Valley Resort, Idaho, has released the schedule for the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Finals, which will return to Bald Mountain from March 18-25, 2027. The event will mark the second time Sun Valley has hosted the season-ending Finals, following its successful return to the World Cup circuit in March 2025 after a 48-year absence as a host.

The eight-day event will feature men’s and women’s races in all four Alpine disciplines: downhill, super-G, giant slalom, and slalom. The World Cup Finals will also hopefully see the first-ever Downhill on Sun Valley’s Challenger Downhill course after the 2025 edition was canceled due to inclement weather.

Grandstand tickets and VIP packages are now on sale, with additional ticket releases expected later. The Finals bring together the world’s highest-ranked ski racers to compete for the season’s overall and discipline Crystal Globes.

World Cup Racing Returns for a Second Time

Sun Valley last hosted the World Cup Finals in March 2025, bringing elite international ski racing back to the resort for the first time since 1977 when it hosted men’s and women’s tech events. The 2025 World Cup Finals at Sun Valley were widely praised by organizers and participants, helping pave the way for the 2027 return. “Sun Valley hosted a world class event in 2025 with the inaugural Stifel Sun Valley Finals and we couldn’t be more excited to return,” Sophie Goldschmidt, president and CEO of U.S. Ski & Snowboard, said in the announcement. FIS Alpine Men’s Chief Race Director Markus Waldner also praised the resort’s debut, pointing to the racing, atmosphere, and local team’s organization as reasons for returning.

The Finals are an invitation-only event, with qualification limited to the top 25 highest-ranked athletes per discipline in addition to the Junior World Championship winner and those with more than 500 FIS points from the season. The races often serve to determine the winners of the overall and individual discipline Crystal Globes, making them the culmination of the 2026-27 World Cup season.
