Il Lombardia will welcome a who’s who of climbing supertalents to its “race of the falling leaves” on Saturday.
And you won’t want to miss it.
Remco Evenepoel, Paul Seixas, Isaac del Toro, Tom Pidcock, Matteo Jorgenson, Primož Roglič, and newly crowned world champion Brandon McNulty headline the start list for the last European WorldTour race of the season.
With five-time defending champion Tadej Pogačar on the sidelines, the hilly Italian monument should be an attacking free-for-all that ends the season on an exclamation point.
The race runs a stunning 239km route from Bergamo to Como.
Expect the stacked superteams of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe and UAE Emirates-XRG to split the haves from the have-nots in the opening procession of medium mountains.
A triple header of short climbs in the final 20km will decide the first new winner of Il Lombardia since Jakob Fuglsang in 2020.
