In late September 2026, a group of 7 strong skiers, 2 guides from Chilco Experencías, and I went on a backcountry hut skiing trip in Argentina. We had planned to do a 4-day hut link-up starting at Refugio Frey, but the weather said otherwise. We ended up spending only 2 nights at Frey before returning back to town where the rain started pouring and didn’t let up one bit for the next 10 days. We made the most of the rest of the trip, doing little day missions from town, skiing in soggy forests, eating good food, drinking good wine, and partying like there was no tomorrow. Throughout the course of the adventure, a talented young photographer from Colorado named Travis Foki captured the whole thing on camera. These are his photographs from our journey.
