Valle Nevado, Chile, has once again extended its season until November 8 for the 2026 season. In August, the resort announced that it would extend its 2026 ski season through October 18 after receiving more than 17 feet of snowfall this winter. The ski resort is South America’s premier ski resort, and that extension gave North American skiers and snowboarders several additional weeks to experience excellent spring conditions in the Chilean Andes. The great season Valle Nevado is having is due to a series of powerful storm cycles that have delivered significant snowfall to Chile’s Central Andes, resulting in deep snow coverage and excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions that began in August.
This will allow skiers and riders the opportunity to experience spring skiing in South America at its best. The resort sits at 9,925 feet (3,025 meters) above sea level, so the altitude affects the quality and consistency of the snow. Valle Nevado’s south-facing slopes also help preserve exceptional conditions on the pistes well into the season. Beyond the snowpack, the spring weather brings a distinct change in mountain atmosphere; according to Rudloff, the days are longer, there is more sunshine, and, overall, the mountain feels more relaxed and social than in the middle of winter.
The resort also continues running guided heli-skiing operations late into the season, taking skiers directly into deep alpine terrain to ski long, ski-movie-type steep lines in powder conditions. For those looking to enjoy the beautiful evening glow of the Andes, the new Sunset Snowcat excursion carries small groups of four to 12 passengers up to the Ancla summit
Valle Nevado kicked off the 2026 winter season on June 19 with the opening of additional lifts, terrain, hotels, restaurants, and services. To support early-and end-of-season operations and enhance the guest experience, the resort also expanded snowmaking and grooming capabilities for the 2026 season. The resort increased its snowmaking network to the Prado and Candonga bases and added three state-of-the-art TechnoAlpin TR10 snow cannons. The system now provides snowmaking coverage, supporting key sectors including Prado, Cuando, Base Góndola, Base Andes, Retorno Alto, and Diablada, and helping provide consistent snow coverage from Ballicas to the summit of Andes and down to the Prado base.

This extension gives North American skiers and riders a chance to experience vintage Andes spring skiing at its best. The ski season in the Northern Hemisphere is getting ready to begin, but Valle Nevado’s season continues to go strong.
