Mike Sinyard has announced that he is returning as CEO of Specialized. The company’s founder previously stepped down from the role in 2022.
In a note to Specialized retail partners sent this morning, Sinyard announced that he would be taking over from Armin Landgraf, who was stepping down from his position after two years as CEO. Sinyard called it a “personal decision” by Landgraf.
When Sinyard stepped down in 2022, Scott Maguire took over as CEO. Landgraf then succeeded him in 2024.
Officially, Sinyard will return as Specialized CEO on November 1, 2026.
“Leading Specialized has been a tremendous privilege,” Landgraf said in the note. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful to our teammates, riders, and partners around the world.
“Specialized is in a strong position, with a clear strategy and an exceptional team.”
Sinyard founded the California brand over 50 years ago in 1972. 2026 has been a significant year for the brand as the company released new models of its premier road, gravel, cross-country, and downhill bikes, as well as a slew of other components and gear.
“As I step back into the CEO role, I’m driven by the same passion for supporting riders and retailers,” Sinyard wrote in the note. “I believe Specialized has always been a big bike shop at heart, and I still show up every day committed to making it the best one it can be.”
