- New York Yankees. Aaron Judge potential return plan could be the gamble the Yankees need for another World Series run
- Los Angeles Dodgers. Tarik Skubal returns to Detroit with the intention of “tearing the Tigers to shreds”
Friday night was always going to be a special one for Tarik Skubal. Making his first start in Detroit as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers, emotions were at an all-time high for the Cy Young pitcher.
Ultimately, Skubal ended up pitching a fantastic game. He held the Detroit Tigers lineup to just four hits and one run across six innings, while striking out seven batters. His performance could have been bigger and better, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided to pull Skubal from the game after just 83 pitches thrown.

Following the decision, the broadcast camera picked up Roberts and Skubal discussing the decision in the dugout. The pitcher was obviously disappointed by the decision, but it wasn’t a heated conversation. Still, it left Skubal dissatisfied; he wanted to go as long as possible on such a special night.
Skubal spoke a little bit about the situation after the game, explaining that Roberts told him he’s going to be needed for the long haul. Obviously, the main thing on Roberts and the Dodgers’ minds is winning another World Series. They need Skubal healthy in order for that to happen.
Roberts’ move ended up paying off, at least. The Dodgers’ bullpen blanked the Tigers for the last three innings, and Freddie Freeman notched the game-winning hit in the 8th inning.
