As we head into MLB’s stretch run, it’s a great time to take a glance at the standings. Some quick takeaways:
In the American League, once you get outside the AL East, it’s all a delightful mess. Some might call it parity, others mediocrity. The race for the third wild-card spot is a perfect example, with seven teams within five games of each other, and five of those teams sporting losing records.

The NL appears stronger, with the Milwaukee Brewers giving the Los Angeles Dodgers a run for best record, with a couple of other teams hot on their heels. And Shohei Ohtani is receiving a mighty challenge in the NL MVP race.
