A tornado tears through Pomas in southern France, damaging homes and roofs and injuring 31 people as severe storms hit the Aude region.
A tornado tore through Pomas in France’s Aude department, damaging homes and ripping roofs apart.
ADVERTISEMENTADVERTISEMENTFootage shows residents gathering around affected buildings, clearing roof tiles and covering exposed roofs with tarpaulins. Trees and vegetation were also uprooted, while emergency teams moved through the village.
The tornado struck as much of south-western France was under an orange weather alert for severe thunderstorms.
Authorities reported 31 people injured in Pomas, while storms caused power cuts and transport disruption in several areas. Emergency services were deployed to assess the damage and help residents secure their homes.
Strong winds and heavy rain were reported across the region.
