Hundreds missing as flash floods tear through Nepal
Flash floods send muddy waters through Nepal’s Trishuli River as streets are covered in debris and police warn residents to stay alert.
Flash floodwaters surged through the Trishuli River in Nepal after a large volume of water entered the Bhote Koshi from the Tibetan side.
Footage from Nuwakot and Dhading districts shows muddy water rushing downstream, while streets are covered in mud and debris and police urge residents to remain alert.
The flooding followed a major surge in the Bhote Koshi in northern Rasuwa district, where villages, roads and infrastructure were damaged. Authorities warned people to stay away from the banks of the Bhote Koshi, Trishuli and Narayani rivers as rescue teams assessed the situation.
Hundreds of people were reported missing, while at least eight deaths were confirmed. The floods also affected Galchhi in Dhading, where the Trishuli carried a heavy flow of muddy water.
