Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) won her third Tour of Britain Women stage in four days, winning the sprint of a reduced group after a hilly stage 4 through Wales. Liane Lippert (Movistar) finished second, Kim Le Court-Pienaar (AG Insurance-Soudal) finished third and defended her GC lead.
A breakaway of three was caught on the Hengoed climb, though not by the whole peloton as QOM jersey Lauren Dickson (FDJ United-Suez) had crashed, splitting the bunch.
Things came back together after the climb, and Movistar did a lead-out into Clyro Hill, the last climb of the day where Lippert went all-in, quickly getting away with Le Court-Pienaar on her wheel.
At the QOM point with 16.2km to go, they were four seconds ahead of Josie Nelson, Lorena Wiebes, Femke de Vries, and Shirin van Anrooij, and the four chasers closed the gap to the front duo together with Caroline Andersson (Liv AlUla Jayco).
In a fast final, this front group of seven worked well together, but just after the 5km mark, a group of five came back from behind. There were several attacks in the final kilometres, but Wiebes closed them all down and then launched her sprint to win the stage.
Going into the final stage, Le Court-Pienaar leads the GC by 24 seconds over Lippert and 29 seconds over Wiebes.
Reduced field sprints into Hay-On-Wye
The stage started in Llanidloes and covered 138.3km, winding through Powys before finishing in Hay-on-Wye, the “town of books” on the border to England.

Fleur Moors (Lidl-Trek) went on a solo breakaway with over 121km to go, and the wearer of the white U23 jersey was 1:08 minutes ahead at the Elan Valley QOM. She increased her gap to 2:40 minutes with 90km to go while Juliana Londoño (Picnic PostNL) went on a solo chase.
The Colombian never made it to Moors, though. She was passed by Alma Walther Møller Rasmussen (Hitec Products-Fluid Control) and caught by the peloton with 73km to go. Rasmussen continued to chase but only got within 1:35 minutes of Moors and was reeled in again 65km from the finish.
Dilyxine Miermont (Picnic PostNL) attacked from the peloton on an unclassified climb out of Knighton with 58km to go. Alessia Vigilia (Uno-X Mobility) also went off the front with 50km to go, quickly bridging to Miermont, and together, they soon caught Moors to make it a front group of three, still over a minute ahead of the peloton where UAE Team L’IMAD, SD Worx-Protime, Canyon-SRAM, and Liv AlUla Jayco were now joining AG Insurance-Soudal at the front.
At the bottom of the Hengoed climb, the gap was down to 57 seconds, and FDJ United-Suez were pulling hard in the peloton with Ally Wollaston and Kate Courtney leading out Dickson. Unfortunately for them, Dickson crashed after a touch of wheels with Courtney, splitting the peloton. Van Anrooij, Nelson, and Le Court-Pienaar bridged to the break on the climb, and another 14 riders also made it across just before the QOM.
A group of 16 riders came back in the descent to make it a peloton of 36 riders at the front, and soon the attacks started. Katrine Aalerud (Uno-X Mobility) was first to try, then Mischa Bredewold (SD Worx-Protime) went with Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (Canyon-SRAM). Alice Towers (Great Britain) and Ricarda Bauernfeind (Lidl-Trek) tried to jump across, but it was Le Court-Pienaar who closed the gap with Wiebes on her wheel.
Van Anrooij was the next to attack but was closed down by Karlijn Swinkels (UAE Team L’IMAD) after a short chase, an attack by Bredewold and a Movistar rider was neutralised by a Le Court-Pienaar, and the following move by De Vries was shut down by Marit Raaijmakers (Human Powered Health).
After Vigilia’s attack was reeled in by Uttrup Ludwig and Towers, Movistar took over at the front of the group to lead out Lippert into the 2.2km climb up Clyro Hill with three riders. Lippert went hard on the steep ramp at the start of the climb and got a gap with Le Court-Pienaar on her wheel, taking everybody else by surprise.
On the flatter section in the middle of the climb, Bredewold had taken up the chase in the peloton, and as the gradient kicked up again, Nelson, De Vries, Wiebes, Van Anrooij, and Andersson attacked from the bunch.
Five seconds behind at the top, the five chasers closed the gap 14km from the finish while Dickson crashed a second time. Erica Magnaldi (UAE Team L’IMAD) and Swinkels, only seven seconds behind at the QOM, were left chasing in vain, eventually sitting up to join forces with Pfeiffer Georgi (Picnic PostNL), Kate Courtney (FDJ United-Suez), and Marte Berg Edseth (Uno-X Mobility).
The five chasers closed the gap with 4.6km to go, and after Wiebes shut down an attack by Courtney, Magnaldi began to set the pace with Wiebes on her wheel until Swinkels tried to attack from the very back of the group, just over 2km from the line.
Again, Wiebes had no trouble in neutralising the attack, and when De Vries and Edseth tried to get away, Wiebes shut their move down too. Andersson and Magnaldi also tried to attack but didn’t even keep going past Wiebes, who was attentive to everything, leading the group onto the finishing straight while two groups came back in touch on the final kilometre.
Van Anrooij tried one last move at the 500m mark but had Swinkels in her wheel, who then opened the sprint with 250m to go. Wiebes, Le Court-Pienaar, and Lippert reacted immediately, and Wiebes pulled ahead in the last 100 metres to win the stage by almost two bike lengths to Lippert, who came around Le Court-Pienaar to take second place.

Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) won her third Tour of Britain Women stage in four days, winning the sprint of a reduced group after a hilly stage 4 through Wales. Liane Lippert (Movistar) finished second, Kim Le Court-Pienaar (AG Insurance-Soudal) finished third and defended her GC lead.
A breakaway of three was caught on the Hengoed climb, though not by the whole peloton as QOM jersey Lauren Dickson (FDJ United-Suez) had crashed, splitting the bunch.
Things came back together after the climb, and Movistar did a lead-out into Clyro Hill, the last climb of the day where Lippert went all-in, quickly getting away with Le Court-Pienaar on her wheel.
At the QOM point with 16.2km to go, they were four seconds ahead of Josie Nelson, Lorena Wiebes, Femke de Vries, and Shirin van Anrooij, and the four chasers closed the gap to the front duo together with Caroline Andersson (Liv AlUla Jayco).
In a fast final, this front group of seven worked well together, but just after the 5km mark, a group of five came back from behind. There were several attacks in the final kilometres, but Wiebes closed them all down and then launched her sprint to win the stage.
Going into the final stage, Le Court-Pienaar leads the GC by 24 seconds over Lippert and 29 seconds over Wiebes.
Reduced field sprints into Hay-On-Wye
The stage started in Llanidloes and covered 138.3km, winding through Powys before finishing in Hay-on-Wye, the “town of books” on the border to England.

Fleur Moors (Lidl-Trek) went on a solo breakaway with over 121km to go, and the wearer of the white U23 jersey was 1:08 minutes ahead at the Elan Valley QOM. She increased her gap to 2:40 minutes with 90km to go while Juliana Londoño (Picnic PostNL) went on a solo chase.
The Colombian never made it to Moors, though. She was passed by Alma Walther Møller Rasmussen (Hitec Products-Fluid Control) and caught by the peloton with 73km to go. Rasmussen continued to chase but only got within 1:35 minutes of Moors and was reeled in again 65km from the finish.
Dilyxine Miermont (Picnic PostNL) attacked from the peloton on an unclassified climb out of Knighton with 58km to go. Alessia Vigilia (Uno-X Mobility) also went off the front with 50km to go, quickly bridging to Miermont, and together, they soon caught Moors to make it a front group of three, still over a minute ahead of the peloton where UAE Team L’IMAD, SD Worx-Protime, Canyon-SRAM, and Liv AlUla Jayco were now joining AG Insurance-Soudal at the front.
At the bottom of the Hengoed climb, the gap was down to 57 seconds, and FDJ United-Suez were pulling hard in the peloton with Ally Wollaston and Kate Courtney leading out Dickson. Unfortunately for them, Dickson crashed after a touch of wheels with Courtney, splitting the peloton. Van Anrooij, Nelson, and Le Court-Pienaar bridged to the break on the climb, and another 14 riders also made it across just before the QOM.
A group of 16 riders came back in the descent to make it a peloton of 36 riders at the front, and soon the attacks started. Katrine Aalerud (Uno-X Mobility) was first to try, then Mischa Bredewold (SD Worx-Protime) went with Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (Canyon-SRAM). Alice Towers (Great Britain) and Ricarda Bauernfeind (Lidl-Trek) tried to jump across, but it was Le Court-Pienaar who closed the gap with Wiebes on her wheel.
Van Anrooij was the next to attack but was closed down by Karlijn Swinkels (UAE Team L’IMAD) after a short chase, an attack by Bredewold and a Movistar rider was neutralised by a Le Court-Pienaar, and the following move by De Vries was shut down by Marit Raaijmakers (Human Powered Health).
After Vigilia’s attack was reeled in by Uttrup Ludwig and Towers, Movistar took over at the front of the group to lead out Lippert into the 2.2km climb up Clyro Hill with three riders. Lippert went hard on the steep ramp at the start of the climb and got a gap with Le Court-Pienaar on her wheel, taking everybody else by surprise.
On the flatter section in the middle of the climb, Bredewold had taken up the chase in the peloton, and as the gradient kicked up again, Nelson, De Vries, Wiebes, Van Anrooij, and Andersson attacked from the bunch.
Five seconds behind at the top, the five chasers closed the gap 14km from the finish while Dickson crashed a second time. Erica Magnaldi (UAE Team L’IMAD) and Swinkels, only seven seconds behind at the QOM, were left chasing in vain, eventually sitting up to join forces with Pfeiffer Georgi (Picnic PostNL), Kate Courtney (FDJ United-Suez), and Marte Berg Edseth (Uno-X Mobility).
The five chasers closed the gap with 4.6km to go, and after Wiebes shut down an attack by Courtney, Magnaldi began to set the pace with Wiebes on her wheel until Swinkels tried to attack from the very back of the group, just over 2km from the line.
Again, Wiebes had no trouble in neutralising the attack, and when De Vries and Edseth tried to get away, Wiebes shut their move down too. Andersson and Magnaldi also tried to attack but didn’t even keep going past Wiebes, who was attentive to everything, leading the group onto the finishing straight while two groups came back in touch on the final kilometre.
Van Anrooij tried one last move at the 500m mark but had Swinkels in her wheel, who then opened the sprint with 250m to go. Wiebes, Le Court-Pienaar, and Lippert reacted immediately, and Wiebes pulled ahead in the last 100 metres to win the stage by almost two bike lengths to Lippert, who came around Le Court-Pienaar to take second place.

Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) won her third Tour of Britain Women stage in four days, winning the sprint of a reduced group after a hilly stage 4 through Wales. Liane Lippert (Movistar) finished second, Kim Le Court-Pienaar (AG Insurance-Soudal) finished third and defended her GC lead.
A breakaway of three was caught on the Hengoed climb, though not by the whole peloton as QOM jersey Lauren Dickson (FDJ United-Suez) had crashed, splitting the bunch.
Things came back together after the climb, and Movistar did a lead-out into Clyro Hill, the last climb of the day where Lippert went all-in, quickly getting away with Le Court-Pienaar on her wheel.
At the QOM point with 16.2km to go, they were four seconds ahead of Josie Nelson, Lorena Wiebes, Femke de Vries, and Shirin van Anrooij, and the four chasers closed the gap to the front duo together with Caroline Andersson (Liv AlUla Jayco).
In a fast final, this front group of seven worked well together, but just after the 5km mark, a group of five came back from behind. There were several attacks in the final kilometres, but Wiebes closed them all down and then launched her sprint to win the stage.
Going into the final stage, Le Court-Pienaar leads the GC by 24 seconds over Lippert and 29 seconds over Wiebes.
Reduced field sprints into Hay-On-Wye
The stage started in Llanidloes and covered 138.3km, winding through Powys before finishing in Hay-on-Wye, the “town of books” on the border to England.

Fleur Moors (Lidl-Trek) went on a solo breakaway with over 121km to go, and the wearer of the white U23 jersey was 1:08 minutes ahead at the Elan Valley QOM. She increased her gap to 2:40 minutes with 90km to go while Juliana Londoño (Picnic PostNL) went on a solo chase.
The Colombian never made it to Moors, though. She was passed by Alma Walther Møller Rasmussen (Hitec Products-Fluid Control) and caught by the peloton with 73km to go. Rasmussen continued to chase but only got within 1:35 minutes of Moors and was reeled in again 65km from the finish.
Dilyxine Miermont (Picnic PostNL) attacked from the peloton on an unclassified climb out of Knighton with 58km to go. Alessia Vigilia (Uno-X Mobility) also went off the front with 50km to go, quickly bridging to Miermont, and together, they soon caught Moors to make it a front group of three, still over a minute ahead of the peloton where UAE Team L’IMAD, SD Worx-Protime, Canyon-SRAM, and Liv AlUla Jayco were now joining AG Insurance-Soudal at the front.
At the bottom of the Hengoed climb, the gap was down to 57 seconds, and FDJ United-Suez were pulling hard in the peloton with Ally Wollaston and Kate Courtney leading out Dickson. Unfortunately for them, Dickson crashed after a touch of wheels with Courtney, splitting the peloton. Van Anrooij, Nelson, and Le Court-Pienaar bridged to the break on the climb, and another 14 riders also made it across just before the QOM.
A group of 16 riders came back in the descent to make it a peloton of 36 riders at the front, and soon the attacks started. Katrine Aalerud (Uno-X Mobility) was first to try, then Mischa Bredewold (SD Worx-Protime) went with Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (Canyon-SRAM). Alice Towers (Great Britain) and Ricarda Bauernfeind (Lidl-Trek) tried to jump across, but it was Le Court-Pienaar who closed the gap with Wiebes on her wheel.
Van Anrooij was the next to attack but was closed down by Karlijn Swinkels (UAE Team L’IMAD) after a short chase, an attack by Bredewold and a Movistar rider was neutralised by a Le Court-Pienaar, and the following move by De Vries was shut down by Marit Raaijmakers (Human Powered Health).
After Vigilia’s attack was reeled in by Uttrup Ludwig and Towers, Movistar took over at the front of the group to lead out Lippert into the 2.2km climb up Clyro Hill with three riders. Lippert went hard on the steep ramp at the start of the climb and got a gap with Le Court-Pienaar on her wheel, taking everybody else by surprise.
On the flatter section in the middle of the climb, Bredewold had taken up the chase in the peloton, and as the gradient kicked up again, Nelson, De Vries, Wiebes, Van Anrooij, and Andersson attacked from the bunch.
Five seconds behind at the top, the five chasers closed the gap 14km from the finish while Dickson crashed a second time. Erica Magnaldi (UAE Team L’IMAD) and Swinkels, only seven seconds behind at the QOM, were left chasing in vain, eventually sitting up to join forces with Pfeiffer Georgi (Picnic PostNL), Kate Courtney (FDJ United-Suez), and Marte Berg Edseth (Uno-X Mobility).
The five chasers closed the gap with 4.6km to go, and after Wiebes shut down an attack by Courtney, Magnaldi began to set the pace with Wiebes on her wheel until Swinkels tried to attack from the very back of the group, just over 2km from the line.
Again, Wiebes had no trouble in neutralising the attack, and when De Vries and Edseth tried to get away, Wiebes shut their move down too. Andersson and Magnaldi also tried to attack but didn’t even keep going past Wiebes, who was attentive to everything, leading the group onto the finishing straight while two groups came back in touch on the final kilometre.
Van Anrooij tried one last move at the 500m mark but had Swinkels in her wheel, who then opened the sprint with 250m to go. Wiebes, Le Court-Pienaar, and Lippert reacted immediately, and Wiebes pulled ahead in the last 100 metres to win the stage by almost two bike lengths to Lippert, who came around Le Court-Pienaar to take second place.
