Casting is under way for Daniel Craig’s successor
Jacob Elordi ducked questions about auditioning for the part of James Bond during the Leicester Square premiere of his new film The Dog Stars.

The search for the new 007 has officially begun, with Amazon MGM studios announcing the start of the process in May. Numerous names have emerged as contenders to replace Daniel Craig, who bowed out in 2021’s No Time To Die, with Wuthering Heights star Elordi nearing the top of the list for most onlookers.
The Australian actor was in London to promote his new film, directed by Ridley Scott and co-starring Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley. Speaking to Variety, he was asked if he had been part of the auditions taking place in the UK. Smiling, he replied: “I’m here on holiday.”

Bond 26 will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, and written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. No casting decisions, or release date, have been announced as of yet. The longest gap between Bond films is currently six years and five months, the time between
Timothy Dalton’s last film Licence to Kill (1989) and Pierce Brosnan’s debut in GoldenEye (1995). If the new film is released after February 2028, it would break that record.
The new star would be the seventh actor to play the role in the official EON productions franchise. Sean Connery originated the role, and was followed by George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, and Craig respectively.

Recently Amy Pascal, a producer on the project, revealed when she thought an announcement can be expected. “I would say the end of the year is a good bet,” she told Deadline. “We are being really, really methodical. Having worked with Barbara Broccoli at the studio, I mean, Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow. And it’s got to be something really different that is a stirring and exciting and different.”
