New Geely Monjaro EM-i: hybrid SUV to launch later in Europe

Geely Auto has confirmed its next new model to launch in Europe is this: the Monjaro EM-i. It’s a large family SUV that uses a hybrid powertrain and will tackle competition like the Skoda Kodiaq and BYD’s upcoming Ti7.
The Monjaro has been on sale for a while in its home market of China, where it is called the Xingyue L. As part of Geely Auto’s big plans to launch several new models in Europe – including some manufactured at Ford’s plant in Valencia – the most up-to-date version of the Monjaro will launch here, too.
Oh, and the name? No, it’s not based on the on-trend GLP-1 weight-loss jab of a very similar name. It’s inspired by Kilimanjaro; Africa’s tallest mountain.
Geely says the new Monjaro uses its GEA Evo platform, an update to the GEA architecture seen on the likes of the EX5 electric SUV and its Starray EM-I plug-in hybrid sibling. The Monjaro is also a plug-in hybrid, and launches with an electrified all-wheel drive system.
As for tech and equipment, the Monjaro launches with a set of displays that even includes one for the passenger, as well as elaborately stitched upholstery on the seats and doors. Geely says the infotainment is equipped with a Chinese-developed AI assistant: the ‘Xingrui Intelligent Large Language Model.’
Other than that, though, there’s not a great deal to talk about thus far. Performance specifications haven’t been confirmed yet, and neither has a price been communicated for Europe or the UK. That said, we do know the Monjaro will make it to our market, with a full market launch planned by the end of 2026.
