A classic episode of Breaking Bad will be coming to US cinemas for one night only on September 7, which has come to be celebrated as “Breaking Bad Day”.

The date is significant because it is when the show’s pilot takes place, and in the years since the series’ conclusion fans have celebrated on that day. Now, US cinema chain Alamo Drafthouse are joining in the festivities with a screening of the classic episode Face Off. The finale of season four sees Walter White’s (Bryan Cranston) tensions with drug lord Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) come to a head, resulting in an explosive confrontation.

Collider reports that fans can attend for free with the purchase of a $10 food and drink voucher, which can be redeemed at the event. Free gifts include a Walter’s Heisenberg hat, a bell, and a Gus Bring “half face mask”. During the screening, a host clad in a yellow jumpsuit will direct audience members to ring their bells whenever the character Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis), an enemy-turned-ally of Walter’s, does so.

Tickets for the screenings, which are taking place at select US locations, are available here. Somewhat ironically, there are no screenings in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the show’s location, as there are no Alamo Drafthouse’s there.

Breaking Bad starred Cranston as a science teacher who used his knowledge of chemistry to cook meth, in order to raise money for his family following a terminal cancer diagnosis. The show ran for five seasons from 2008-13, becoming a cultural phenomenon. It led to a spin-off, Better Call Saul, which aired from 2015-22, as well as a one-off Netflix movie El Camino, which was released in 2019.

Recently, Bob Odenkirk revived the character of Saul Goodman, who appeared in both shows, to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.
