Akriila rolls out the red carpet for her new album with an exclusive playlist for The Cover
The Chilean artist teases her second record, ‘Lucy Miró Al Mundo Y Notó Que Está Girando, Es Mi Segundo Disco’
This week’s star of The Cover, Akriila, has shared an exclusive playlist that also teases her new album, ‘Lucy Miró Al Mundo Y Notó Que Está Girando, Es Mi Segundo Disco’.

In her Cover story, written by Charis McGowan and featuring photography by Lo Harley, the Chilean singer and rapper sheds light on her upcoming second record, which has the English title ‘Lucy Looked At The World, And Noticed That It’s Spinning’.
Her exclusive playlist accompanying The Cover is titled ‘Lucy Is The New Hopecore’, and mixes music from other contemporary artists – Bassvictim, Corridos Ketamina, recent Cover artist Chanel Beads and collaborator Jane Remover under her Venturing moniker – with older inspirations such as PJ Harvey and The Beatles.

So far, Akriila has teased her new album with three singles: ‘Partedemipartedeti’, ‘Roger’ and ‘Suave’ featuring Jane Remover. She referenced the series ‘She Is So Hot I Wanna Clean Her Room’ by the Ukrainian artist shelestvetrovki when explaining the record’s concept to NME: “Everything is completely messy; you’re looking only at your own problems, extremely self-centred. Then there comes a turning point: a real ray of light has to come in through the window for you to understand there is more out there. That the world is turning and I’m growing.”
In her Cover, Akriila also sheds light on her formative influences growing up in Santiago, from learning guitar by herself to entering the city’s rich trap scene. “I was part of a generation that didn’t know what to do, whether to go to university. I was lost,” she said of how the Covid lockdown and protests in Santiago affected her and her peers. “In the pandemic, I pushed myself to understand what I wanted, and music was very present. Then I started to release it, without thinking about anything specific.” She also shared more on her love of Auto-Tune: “It’s a filter, an effect, but it filters something real. I can become a character that’s more playful, for example. My recordings are based on sensation.”
