Per Setlist.FM, Billie Joe Armstrong and co. performed 16 songs as a trio without their usual touring members. The special slot kicked off with ‘Going To Pasalacqua’ from their 1990 debut album ’39/Smooth’.

The band went on to dust off ‘Only Of You’ from their first EP, 1989’s ‘1,000 Hours’ – marking the track’s first live outing since 2017.

Various other old rarities followed, including ‘Paper Lanterns’, ‘2000 Light Years Away’ and ‘Brat’, as well as the ‘Nimrod’ cuts ‘Scattered’ and ‘Nice Guys Finish Last’. The group also treated the crowd to 2000 single ‘Minority’, their debut single ‘Longview’ and more.

Following the LA premiere, Green Day shared a series of images from the event on social media. “We’ve always dreamed of making a Green Day movie, and now that dream is finally a reality,” they wrote in the caption.

They added: “Whether you’ve been here since the early days that inspired it or found us somewhere along the way, this movie is for you. Nimrods is yours tomorrow. Go see it in theaters nationwide.”

Nimrods stars Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman and Ryan Foust as the members of the fictional Kansas City punk trio Analog Dogs.

The movie sees Green Day inspire the young, hopeful band by apparently granting them a support slot on a New Year’s Eve show after hearing their demo tape.

The cast also includes Mckenna Grace, Jenna Fischer, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee and Sean Gunn, while Green Day appear as themselves and serve as producers.

Nimrods is out in cinemas in the UK and US now.
Reports of the film being in the works emerged early last year, with the project initially operating under the title New Years Rev. In April, it was confirmed that it had been renamed Nimrods, in reference to Green Day’s 1997 album ‘Nimrod’.

The trio also promoted the film by surprising fans at San Diego Comic-Con and playing ‘Basket Case’ on top of an ice cream van. You can see a list of every song on the official Nimrods soundtrack here.

In other news, Green Day have launched a 24/7 YouTube stream offering around-the-clock footage from across the band’s history.
