“Smoking before shows is not my thing”
Blink-182’s Travis Barker has revealed that he and Tom DeLonge once got so high with Cypress Hill before a live show that they spent the entire gig itching to go home.

The pop-punk star shared the anecdote in a new interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, where he was asked by the host whether he had ever taken to the stage while under the influence of drugs.
While he said that he rarely ever has done so – particularly because he wants to deliver the best show he can each night – there was one exception.
Looking back at the time Blink-182 hit the road with No Doubt and Cypress Hill, he recalled that rappers B-Real and Sen Dog from the latter convinced him and Blink frontman Tom DeLonge to smoke with them before the last show of the tour.

He said he initially turned down the idea, before coming around to it after being told that the tour would be done and they would be heading home straight after.

“Dude, let me tell you, it was the longest fucking show. The songs felt like they lasted forever,” he shared. “It was like my body was working, but everything up here was silent, and I was noticing stuff I don’t normally notice…”
There was a similar feeling with DeLonge too, who came up to Barker midway through the show and just told him, “I want to go home”.
“I was like, ‘Me too. It was so awful,” the drummer recalled, also sharing that bassist Mark Hoppus was sober for the show and oblivious to how hard his bandmates found the gig. “Smoking before shows is not my thing,” he concluded.
Barker is set to release his new documentary Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear on Hulu and Disney+ on August 13, which explores his life and career, the 2008 plane crash that almost claimed his life, and the “raw and redemptive journey” he embarked on afterwards.
As for Blink, the pop-punk legends last released music in 2023 with ‘One More Time…’ – their first record in over a decade with the original trio of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Barker. Recently, however, the drummer revealed that Blink-182 are working on a new album.
