The Manchester indie band’s debut album ‘Something Real’ is out later this month
The Guest List have shared their monotony-busting and anthemic new single ‘Mundane’ – check it out below.
The track is the latest taste of the Manchester indie five-piece’s forthcoming debut album ‘Something Real‘, which is set to be released on August 28. Pre-order/pre-save the record here.
‘Mundane’ follows on from the previous singles ‘You Should Care‘, ‘If Ever Your Devil Is Kind‘ and the album’s title track, and it sees frontman Cai Alty cathartically singing about the small frustrations of bland and repetitive everyday life.

Alty has said: “The main riff for this song came to me a couple years ago. I remember thinking it was the grungiest thing I had ever written. The lyrics are about the monotony of the every day – fitting curtains, soaking dishes, etc. All things that can start to drive us mad when life becomes too predictable. The song is an outlet for pent-up bitterness without telling us to rip up the script entirely.”
‘Something Real’ was recorded in Norway with Matias Tellez and produced in part by The Coral‘s James Skelly. Across the 12 songs, The Guest List balance weighty themes of mental health, climate change and domestic violence with moments of vulnerability and resilience.

“The album is basically us saying, ‘we’re young, we’re confused just like you – how did we get here?’” Alty explained. “It’s about trying to find something meaningful in a world that often feels overwhelming.”
The Guest List formed in 2021 and released their debut EP ‘When The Lights Are Out’ last year. Since then, they have supported Blossoms and Inhaler, and they will be at Reading & Leeds and Victorious later this month.
Their UK and European headline tour begins in Brussels on October 20, with the UK leg kicking off in Newcastle on November 17, with a London Scala show on November 24. See the full list of dates here and find any remaining tickets here.
