Nike’s Laziest Sneaker Goes Green

Nike is missing the forest for the trees. And to great results, I must say. To be specific, Nike has recently found quite the arboreal muse in pine trees with its Nike Blazy sneaker, in, you guessed it, “Pine Green.”

While most of Nike’s shoes have larger athletic focuses like basketball or soccer, the Blazy sneaker was designed for a life of leisure. I mean, “be lazy” is literally in the name.

This laid-back attitude is woven into just about every aspect of the sneaker. The double-taped midsole resembles the reclined disposition of a Lazy Boy lounger, while the widened toe-box offers some extra toe room. It’s spacious, comfortable, and totally unpretentious.

This poses quite the contrast to the Blazy’s footwear predecessor, Nike’s basketball-focused Blazer sneaker.

First released in 1972, Nike’s Blazer sneaker has the right to be a bit uppity. After all, it was Nike’s first basketball sneaker, like, ever.

GOATed Nike gems like the Air Jordan 1 owe a great deal of their success (and existence in general) to shoes like the OG Blazer, which established Nike’s existing high-top design language that’s still in circulation today.

Now, over 50 years later, Nike is rehashing the shoe that started it all in a way that gleefully abandons the courts that raised it.
