Stage 6, 153.4km / 2,600m+: Montbrison – Tournon-Sur-Rhône
Stage 6 of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, it’s like stage 5 all over again. The peloton faces a second long, hilly day in a row in this stage through the Ardèche.
And again, it could suit tough sprinters, puncheurs, or a canny breakaway rider.
Of the six categorized climbs on the menu, the only serious test arrives 50km from the finish, the Col de Lalouvesc.
This 8km climb will likely shape the tone of the race. Any attack that goes clear here will enjoy a downward trending run toward a flat final 4km into Tournon-Sur-Rhône.
With Mont Ventoux arriving on stage 7, a bunch sprint on day 8, and a mountainous circuit on stage 9, this stage to Tournon-Sur-Rhône could be the breakaway specialists’ last chance.
High motivation should make for a hard, unpredictable stage.
