Just when I thought all hope was lost for the iPad mini, we could see a new one soon.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that a new iPad mini could hit shelves as soon as October. We haven’t seen a new iPad mini since the seventh generation was released in 2024.

The rumored new iPad mini model is code-named J510 and will come with a few upgrades, including an OLED screen, which would improve screen quality. Gurman also reported that new developments are in the works for an entry-level iPad (code-named J581) with a faster processor and new iPad Air models (code-named J807 and J837 for 11- and 13-inch models, respectively). Those models are expected in 2027.

Another rumor reported by Bloomberg suggests we could see new iPad Pro models next year, too.

The big question remains: How much will they cost? Last month, Apple raised prices on its new and refurbished devices. The iPad mini cost $499 last month before Apple’s price hikes. Now it’s $599. The iPad Pro (11-inch) went up $200 to $1,199, and the iPad Air, which is now $749, was originally $599.

So, imagine an iPad with an OLED screen that could deliver top-notch performance amid RAM and memory chip shortages, which are partially to blame for tech companies like Apple raising prices this year.
