Journeys begin amid blinking lights and sweltering heat. The 2026 NBA Summer League heads to “Fabulous” Las Vegas, where top-line rookies debut and undrafted free agents fight for roster spots.
From July 9-19, viewers can get a low-key look at developing young prospects. Some of them, like the Memphis Grizzlies’ Cameron Boozer and the Utah Jazz’s Darryn Peterson, arrive off of preview circuits in Salt Lake City and the California Classic. Formal introductions are lined up for the rest of this hyped 2026 rookie class — with Washington Wizards No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa as the headliner.

NBA Summer League broadcasters
The ESPN networks combine for 38 summer league showings, and they have the championship game on Sunday, July 19. Coverage is accessible with a pay TV provider or an ESPN Unlimited subscription.
ESPN’s play-by-play voices in Vegas are Dave Pasch, Drew Carter, John Schriffen, Sean Kelley, Jorge Sedano and Marc Kestecher. Doris Burke, Danny Green and Jeremy Lin are among the color commentators.
Prime Video has 38 summer league broadcasts too, with live access in more than 200 countries around the world. The Prime play-by-play announcers are Michael Grady, Mike Watts, Brendan Glasheen, Carlo Jimenez and Brian Sieman. Analysts include Stan Van Gundy, John Wall and Teresa Weatherspoon.

Summer league format and tiebreakers
All 30 teams play four games between July 9 and July 16. Quarters are 10 minutes each. Four semifinalists are determined by records and then tiebreakers, with the other 26 squads sent to the consolation bracket.
Here’s how the tiebreakers work for two teams with matching records:
- Head-to-head result.
- Point differential through four games.
- Points scored through four games.
- A random drawing, should the tie somehow still exist.
If three or more teams are tied, the league skips right to tiebreaker No. 2 and goes down the list from there.
Summer league rule changes to know
The California and Salt Lake City circuits tested two new rule tweaks. Both are in effect for the Vegas matchups as well.

Unless it’s the final two minutes of a game or in overtime, all foul shooters take a single free throw. That one shot is worth the number of attempts it replaces. The breakdown:
- The free throw is worth one point after a technical foul or an and-1.
- It’s worth two after a standard shooting foul.
- It’s worth three after a 3-point try.
Summer league is also using “connected basketballs,” which have embedded sensors to collect data for future refereeing. The goal is to get more accurate whistles for out-of-bounds calls and the like.
