Clean Up The Lake (CUTL) and Station House Inn will officially partner on the new Stay With Purpose Program on Sunday, July 5, 2026, introducing a new partnership that transforms every guest’s stay at some hotels into direct support for protecting Lake Tahoe. Through the Stay With Purpose Program, Station House Inn and its other local hotels will donate approximately $4 from every guest stay to non-profits in the Tahoe region.

Clean Up The Lake was the group’s environmental non-profit of choice for their program, making an annual commitment of close to $30,000, which helps the organization secure a high level of ongoing financial support it can rely on. It is support like this that allows non-profits to establish and continue new programs that can significantly protect our local environment. The Stay with Purpose program is a new way to allow visitors to directly contribute to the protection and restoration of Lake Tahoe, simply by choosing where they stay.

The launch day event will include a full-on community clean-up, joined by visitors and locals helping clean up around the South Lake Tahoe hotel corridor between the village and the lake while also simultaneously running an independent SCUBA cleanup from CUTL’s volunteer dive team of the South Lake Tahoe firework zone. The event kicks off at 8:00 a.m., where CUTL staff and the Station House Inn team will say a few words about their newfound partnership and then roll into operational and safety briefings for the day’s cleanups to help leave Tahoe better than we found it on the 5th of July.

Media outlets are encouraged to RSVP if planning to attend; if seeking a spot on the media boat, the program requires RSVPs due to only five positions being available. Following the announcement, interview opportunities will be available with organizational and hotel leadership, staff, volunteers, visitors, and participating SCUBA divers before cleanup operations begin. Media with spots on the boat will be invited to Lakeside Marina to board the boat and observe a one-tank dive for approximately 1.5 hours before returning to the dock by 10:30 a.m.
