Results: Cécile Lejeune and Torbjørn André Røed Win BWR Utah 2026

Belgian Waffle Ride Utah 2026 started under cool morning skies. It ended in a thunderstorm. Everything in between was worth remembering.

For Cécile Lejeune, it was also worth adding to an already impressive season. The Trek Driftless rider followed her victory at BWR California with another commanding performance in Utah, finishing in 5h 48m 49s to claim back-to-back Belgian Waffle Ride victories and the lead in the Quad-Tripel Crown of Gravel Series. A former road racer with a fifth-place finish at Unbound Gravel on her resume, Cécile is racing like someone who has figured out exactly what gravel requires of her. Courtney Sullivan finished second at 6h 08m 47s, with Holly Breck third at 6h 21m 47s.

In the men’s race, Torbjørn André Røed finished in 4h 51m 38s, holding off Ryker Brand (4h 51m 41s) and Hayden Christian (4h 53m 08s) in a finish so close that three riders were separated by less than three minutes after more than one hundred miles in the desert. A front group of five, Torbjørn André Røed, Ryker Brand, Hayden Christian, Eliott Thornblade, and Josiah Wildman, traded spots at the front for the better part of the race.

The results only tell part of the story.

BWR Utah introduced a new Black Mountains sector this year, nearly fifty miles through a remote stretch of Iron County that most riders had never seen. The race organization calls it, the finest fifty-mile stretch of gravel in forty-two editions across North America. The soil shifts color every few miles, red dust giving way to grey rock giving way to dark volcanic earth. For nearly fifty miles, riders were alone with the course, the cattle, and whatever was left in their legs.

Cécile Lejeune captured it well in her post-race account. “In one hour of riding, the soil and vegetation changed color a handful of times,” she wrote. “From red dust, to grey rocks, to dark brown soil, we rode through a kaleidoscope of earthy tints.”
