A controversial new film starring former Marvel actor Jonathan Majors has drawn comparisons with The Boys from critics after debuting online.

Run Hide Fight: Infidels, an action-thriller produced by far-right media outlet The Daily Wire, features an anti-Islam plot which depicts a college campus being taken over by “radical Islamic terrorists”. The trailer shows archive footage of the September 11 attacks in New York, as well as what appears to be executions.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “When radical Islamic terrorists hijack a liberal college’s pro-Palestine encampment to enforce Sharia law on students, a ragtag band of red-blooded students, a security guard tired of ‘Uncle Tom’ smears & a Delta Force vet must arm up to save their clueless peers & keep America from surrendering to the enemy on its own soil.”

The trailer’s release drew shock from users on X (formerly Twitter), which film critic Erik Voss writing: “This is like one of those movies produced by Vought Studios in the world of The Boys”, referring to the propaganda wing of the show’s villainous Vought International.  Fellow critic Tomris Laffly wrote: “Armie Hammer and Jonathan Majors are in the same phase of their movie careers I guess”, referencing Hammer’s new release where he plays a vigilante who hunts down immigrant criminals.

Jonathan Majors, who is the lead actor in the film, was once considered one of Hollywood’s rising stars, delivering critically-acclaimed performances in films such as The Last Black Man In San Francisco, Da 5 Bloods, and Creed III. He was also introduced as a significant villain in the Marvel franchise, playing Kang The Conqueror in the Loki TV show and Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania.

In March 2023, Majors was arrested on domestic violence charges in New York after he allegedly assaulted ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in the backseat of a car. The actor pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.

The actor, who faced four charges of assault, aggravated harassment and harassment, was found guilty on two of the charges. He was found not guilty of one count of assault in the third degree and one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree. Majors avoided prison and was instead sentenced to probation.

After this, Majors was dropped from Marvel and his film Magazine Dreams was dropped from the release schedule at the time.

Run Hide Fight: Infidels made headlines last year after Majors suffered an accident on set, receiving medical care amid questions over safety conditions on the production.
