Earlier this week, pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 6 finally went live with fans able to buy one of two different editions of the long-awaited game. The standard version of Grand Theft Auto 6 will set you back £69.99 while the Ultimate edition is priced at £89.99.

Retailers are also offering a physical edition of Grand Theft Auto 6 but publishers Take-Two Interactive have confirmed that at launch, this will just be a download code in a box.

One fan emailed Rockstar about this, and was told that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released as a physical disc at a later date. “Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support. Please note that the current pre-order is indeed just for a digital-only update. You will be able to acquire a physical copy during the following months,” they wrote (via Vice).

Earlier this year it was reported that Rockstar would be delaying the physical release of GTA 6 to combat leaks. However Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick said it wasn’t “the plan” to delay the physical release of Grand Theft Auto 6. However in April, a group of hackers blackmailed the game studio after acquiring a “limited amount” of staff data and last month, a YouTuber was questioned by police after they were caught snooping around Rockstar’s HQ in Edinburgh.

According to insiders, the physical version of Grand Theft Auto 6 could release a few weeks after the game’s launch on November 19 but others are saying it’ll come in early 2027. There’s still no news on a PC release for the game either.

Several retailers have said they’re going to boycott the launch of GTA 6 over the lack of physical disc. “When we started Loot Box Gaming, it was out of a love for our favourite form of media, gaming, as well as the preservation of said media,” wrote one store on X. “If a product can’t honour the people who pay their hard earned money to purchase it, then we have no business trying to sell it to our customers whom we value above anything else.”

Fans are also frustrated that Rockstar Games is making several in-game stores and cosmetics exclusive to players who buy the more expensive Ultimate edition.

In other news, Olivia Rodrigo has brought third album ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl In Love’ to Fortnite. “I’ve always loved how Fortnite brings people together in a really specific way,” Rodrigo said in a statement. “It’s exciting to have my music brought into this world and to have players embrace different looks from my albums.”
