Heavy Metal: Nike Gives The Air Force 1 A Grunge-Luxe Glow Up

The Nike Air Force 1 is a true chameleon of the sneaker world, reshaped by Nike time and again to fit seamlessly within all kinds of fashion aesthetics. This Luxe style feels tailor-made for the spiky-haired metalhead crowd, set to land Fall 2026 in men’s sizes.

A number of transformations take the Bruce Kilgore-designed model pretty far from the original, the most apparent being a huge leather tongue cover fastened by a set of buckles on the lateral side, not far off from an Air Max Goadome previewed earlier this year. The other major change comes at the midsole, where Nike swaps in a rugged new sole unit that filters the model’s classic hallmarks through the lens of a true stomper boot. An extra splice of leather covers the toe, and the backtab arrives with debossed Nike Air branding. The lone non-black detail comes via the mini Swooshes on both sides, rendered in silver metal.
