Former U.S. ski racer and Olympic gold medalist Bode Miller was arrested earlier this month in Idaho and is facing two misdemeanor drug-related charges, according to court records reported by multiple media outlets. The 48-year-old was arrested on June 6 in Fremont County, Idaho, and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Court records show he was released after posting a $5,000 bond and later entered not-guilty pleas to both charges. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 29.

According to a probable cause affidavit cited by TMZ and local Idaho television station KTVB, a deputy with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office allegedly discovered a white dispensary bag containing approximately 4.1 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. Court records reportedly state that Miller acknowledged the mushrooms were illegal. Miller has pleaded not guilty to both charges. Court records also show that Miller paid a fine related to a speeding violation associated with the traffic stop.

Both charges filed against Miller are misdemeanors rather than felonies. Under Idaho law, psilocybin remains classified as a Schedule I controlled substance. A conviction for misdemeanor possession can carry penalties of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

Miller is widely regarded as one of the greatest American alpine ski racers of all time. Over a career spanning five Winter Olympics from 1998 to 2014, he won six Olympic medals, including gold in the super combined at the 2010 Winter Olympics. He also captured two overall World Cup titles, 33 World Cup victories, and four World Championship gold medals.

Known for his aggressive racing style and willingness to push the limits, Miller became one of the defining figures of his generation in alpine skiing. Following his retirement from competition in 2017, he remained active in the ski industry through broadcasting, coaching initiatives, and business ventures.

The case remains pending, and Miller is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
