It’s finally happening, apparently. After a protracted and extremely tumultusous decade of development, The Wolf Among Us 2 is supposedly now launching next year. And there’s a remaster of the much-loved original on the way to tide us over until then.

First announced in 2017, The Wolf Among Us 2 – the sequel to developer Telltale’s 2013 video game adaptation of Bill Willingham’s Fables comics – has been on and off again throughout the last ten years. All seemed lost when Telltale closed its doors in 2018, but it was somewhat miraculously resurrected in 2019 – only to disappear again in 2023.

That most recent version was being co-developed by AdHoc Studio – co-founded by the original Wolf Among Us team and now best known as the studio behind last year’s stellar Dispatch – but last September it told Eurogamer it had been off the project for a while.

The Wolf Among Us 2’s Summer Game Fest showing credits Telltale (which was resurrected some years ago now) and publisher PM Studios, with the game now targeting a 2027 release. Before all that, though, there’s The Wolf Among Us Remastered, a revamp of the beloved original game, which is set to launch this “holiday”.

So there you go – some more good news in what’s been an action-packed Summer Game Fest showcase this year. For more on all the big reveals we’ve seen so far, you can consult Eurogamer’s handy round-up.
