Prato Nevoso, located in the Ligurian Alps of Northwest Italy, has begun construction on its new eight-seat chairlift. The high-speed detachable chairlift will be the Piedmont region’s first eight-seater as resorts across the area are modernizing infrastructure. The chairlift will serve the resort’s Conca area near the village, and it is expected to be fully operational for the 2026-27 season.
The new chairlift will have modern, state-of-the-art features: a bubble for wind protection, a “magic carpet” loading zone, and a detachable design for convenient loading and unloading. The high-speed chairlift will be 1,120 meters (3,675 feet) long with a ride time of approximately four minutes and 10 seconds.
The new chairlift will replace Blu, a four-seater that has been in use since 2000. The old lift’s components will be relocated to the Gavo Valley near the peak of Mondolè, where it will be put back into service to allow Prato Nevoso to open new terrain.
The new chairlift is just one piece of a €60 million (nearly $70 million) investment plan for the resort. Set to run from 2026 to 2028, the plan is the most extensive ever launched by a resort in the Piedmont region. Along with the new chairlift, the plan includes snowmaking upgrades “that will allow the slopes to become fully operational in approximately 36 hours.” A new water reservoir will be added in the Cudano area to support the system. The plan also includes relocating the old Blu chairlift to Mondolè, bringing new terrain with it. Additionally, Prato Nevoso plans to open new beginner areas with new conveyor lifts.
Investments will also be put towards Prato Nevoso’s year-round offerings. Prato Nevoso Village, a popular family entertainment park, will undergo expansion of its summer activities. An alpine coaster is being added as well, with a lift system designed for year-round use.
Rounding out the plan are hospitality upgrades. 12 ski-in/ski-out housing units are under construction, as well as two chalets. A sports complex with upgraded tennis courts, as well as a new hotel are also in the works.
Prato Nevoso has been continuously investing in its lift infrastructure and in 2019 constructed the region’s first 10-seat gondola, a Porsche designed system manufactured by Bartholet, called La Rossa.

For the new lift, construction crews have completed the bottom lift station and installed the lift’s support poles. They have begun excavation for the valley station, marking significant progress as the resort looks to meet its summer deadline.
Prato Nevoso translates to “Snowy Valley” in English, and the name certainly fits. Prato Nevoso has a reputation for receiving massive amounts of snow, making it a target destination for powder hunters across the world. While much of the Alps struggled this season, Prato Nevoso received 998 centimeters (385 inches) of snow in 2025-26.
Prato Nevoso is a part of the larger Mondolè Ski region, which includes neighboring resorts Artesina and Frabosa Soprana. There are 24 total lifts and 105 kilometers (65 miles) of in-bounds terrain across all three resorts.
