Report: Chloé Dygert To Step Away from Euro Road and Focus on LA Olympic Gold

Chloé Dygert is set to pivot her career away from road racing in Europe and point it directly at the LA Olympic Games.

According to reporting by Daniel Benson, the Indianan star is close to signing a two-year deal with U.S. conti team Virginia’s Blue Ridge-TWENTY28.

The move would effectively pause her time in the Women’s WorldTour and give her extra bandwidth to go all-in on preparing for her home Games in 2028.

Benson wrote recently on his Substack page that a deal between Dygert and Team TWENTY28 has not yet been signed but is “on course.”

Dygert’s long-running contract with Women’s WorldTour squad Canyon-SRAM-Zondacrypto is due to expire in the winter.

Velo has contacted both Canyon-SRAM and Blue Ridge-TWENTY28 for comment but has yet to hear back.

The Blue Ridge-TWENTY28 team is one of the oldest in U.S. cycling.

Many of the nation’s top female athletes have moved through its ranks. Dygert spent four seasons there before she joined Canyon-SRAM in 2021, and is still linked with the squad through mutual coach Kristen Armstrong.

Highs and lows in Europe

Dygert’s career has been marred by serious injuries and health setbacks since she stepped up with Canyon-SRAM.

She won a second world time trial title, placed second in the world championship road race, and won multiple WorldTour victories while with the team, but was held back by several long lay-offs, most notably after her terrible crash in 2020.

The 29-year-old has raced only six times this season. She recently revealed a diagnosis of “hormonal deficiencies and elevated cortisol levels” in a post on Instagram.

Dygert has represented the USA at three Olympic cycles and won medals in all three.

She most recently won gold with Jennifer Valente, Kristen Faulkner, and Lily Williams at the Team Pursuit in Paris.
