There is no shortage of attention over the alleged long-running personal relationship between New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and former NFL reporter Dianna Russini. However, fresh questions have been raised over how sensitive team information may have been accessed and reported during key Tennessee Titans decisions.

Central to the discussion is Russini’s early reporting of the A.J. Brown trade, which reshaped the Titans roster and ultimately became one of the most significant moves of the 2022 NFL Draft era.

At the time, Brown was regarded as one of the NFL’s rising wide receiver stars after posting 185 receptions, nearly 3,000 receiving yards, and 26 total touchdowns in his first three seasons. Despite his production, contract negotiations between Brown and Tennessee had reportedly stalled as he entered the final year of his rookie deal.

When the Titans finalized a deal sending him to the Philadelphia Eagles on draft night, Russini was among the first to break the news before it was publicly confirmed by the league or team.

Now in 2026, all the talk has focused on whether Vrabel and Russini may have had a relationship spanning several years, with tabloid coverage and social media speculation highlighting alleged sightings and interactions dating back to 2020.

These include an alleged New York bar encounter, a reported 2021 boat outing in Tennessee, and later appearances together in Arizona prior to NFL meetings. 

Critics have pointed to the overlap between these periods and Russini’s high-profile reporting on Titans transactions, though no formal evidence of wrongdoing has been established.

The speculation has largely centered on whether her closeness to team decision-makers could have influenced reporting timelines or sourcing, particularly during major roster moves involving Tennessee.

“It was a very popular assumption by many in the Nashville market, by media and Titans fans, that Russini’s Titans source was Vrabel,” Austin Stanley wrote on the matter.

“Breaking the A.J. Brown trade on draft night, a night that is owned every year by Adam Schefter, was extra ammo to back up that assumption.”

The A.J. Brown trade itself sent shockwaves through the league. Philadelphia signed Brown to a four-year, $100 million extension with substantial guaranteed money, immediately making him a centerpiece of their offense. For Tennessee, the move marked a turning point in roster construction and public perception.

In the aftermath, Titans leadership defended the decision-making process. Vrabel stated that roster turnover is an unavoidable reality in the NFL and emphasized his support for general manager Jon Robinson’s strategy.
