Little Simz ft. JT – “Game On”

Celebrated UK rapper Little Simz delivers the goods on their latest shorter side quest away from album life. Four-track EP “Sugar Girl” is dark, atmospheric and playful with standout contributions from Della, 070 Shake, and JT. The latter of which steals the show on “Game On”.

Charli xcx – “Rock Music”

Bold, bohemian, and nothing like she’s ever done before, Charli xcx returns in style with the inaugural track of her next era. “Rock Music” is certainly influenced by heavy, guitar-led sounds, but maintains the xcx essence, working with the usual suspects to make something that feels fresh and surprising.

FLO – “Therapy At The Club”

Rethink everything you thought this was going to be. On FLO’s new single, “Therapy At The Club”, Jorja, Renee and Stella reimagine the club as “a site of confession”, which it often can be – like the ladies’ bathroom, but two hours rather than two minutes. Over this soft-swing ballad, their vocals butter and ripple, in the way the girl group has become loved for, and all of this anticipation of their sophomore album of the same title.

The Last Dinner Party – “Big Dog”

The Last Dinner Party has been on the road ever since the release of her sophomore album last year, with dates supporting both sombr and Olivia Rodrigo coming in the next 12 months. They share a new single – a live favourite at that – in “Big Dog”.

Qendresa – “Rain in July / Be The One”

Mystical maverick Qendresa is always a welcome presence in UK alternative soul, with this heady double single proving as potent as anything she’s shared in years. “Rain in July” and “Be The One” draw you into Qen’s smoke-filled sonic world, full of atmosphere and articulation.

Lancey Foux – “BODY”

Off the back of his CLUB BLUE event at in-demand club LOST in London last week, Lancey Foux has delivered a new single titled “BODY” off his upcoming album, THE TIME OF OUR LIVES. Dropping alongside a sensory video, we get his signature smooth and pitched vocals with a trance-y, psychedelic beat as the backdrop.

Nemzzz ft. Lil Yachty – “Geekin”

After the success of their first collaboration, “IT’S US”, Nemzzz reunites with Atlanta’s Lil Yachty for his new track “GEEKIN”. Set to be part of his forthcoming album, Locked In, we get an addictive, distorted beat with the Manchester-hailing rapper giving us his commanding energy and Yachty experimenting with his vocal inflexions, going from unbothered to unhinged.

Kelela – “linknb”

With the second preview from her just announced third album, new avatar, coming July 10th, Kelela further dives into her artistic roots and gives us the genre-bending single “linknb”, combining all of the musical influences, from R&B to alt-rock, that have made her the artist that she is today.

Yard Act – “Redeemer”

One of modern punk’s best British bands, Yard Act, return with news that an album, You’re Gonna Need A Little Music, will be released on 17th July, alongside our first taste. “Reedemer” has a vitality and cinema etched into its core, with a killer hook and broody instrumental backdrop.

TKAY MAIDZA – “Pressed”

On this airy and echoing synth-driven melody, TKAY MAIDZA stays “Pressed” on the bassline. Hypnotic and groovy, the Zimbabwean-born, Australia-raised pop singer-songwriter laces this Afrobeat-infused track with the edge of house music. Here, she reinvents the sounds of home for herself and makes a bold step in a new direction.

Porches – “Habit”

NYC avant-garde songwriter Porches is sharing a new mixtape, “MASK”, next week. There’s a teaser single and video out in the world now, “Habit”, an oddly uplifting and deftly DIY gem.

Ebbb – “Now You Know”

Ahead of their debut album’s release, indie band Ebbb releases their groovy new single “Now You Know”. Coming in the midst of the summer, this banger about obsessive love will immediately hook you with its playful riffs and upbeat energy. Catch them on tour in support of their debut LP, Shallow Hits, this winter.

Matilda Lyn – ‘Red Dragonfly’

Swedish songstress Matilda Lyn is letting go of the “Red Dragonfly” on her latest single. Released as part of the rollout for her debut album, she shows the enchanting expanse of her vocal range on this folky jingle, which marks a point of clarity for the singer-songwriter. Twinkling falsetto and riffs swirl over orchestral percussion as Matilda outlines the inner decay that happens within a destructive relationship, basking in the slow unravelling of finding your identity and gaining agency.

Tommy Barlow – “Earth Killer”

Newly signed to Young, the home of Robyn and Sampha, Cambridge polymath Tommy Barlow feels like a special new find. Debut single on the label “Earth Killer” is subtly intoxicating, centred around his deep, broody vocals that sit somewhere between mark william lewis and King Krule.

Georgian – “Californian Jeans”

With a new EP on the horizon, Manchester-based band Georgian drops off their second single in the lead-up with “Californian Jeans”. With a nostalgic sound that remains contemporary and fresh, their latest tune is an ode to the timelessness of denim and a love letter of sorts to vintage clothing in general.

Blue Lab Beats – “North London Pace”

Acclaimed jazz-electronica duo Blue Lab Beats are back with their accomplished and adept fifth album, The Blue Lab Beats Show. Packed with noteworthy collaborations – from Denzil Himself to Jamila Woods – the record finds the pair in excellent, eclectic form.

Sofia Cordoba – “Symptom Of Love”

Colombian singer-songwriter Sofia Cordoba makes peace with a “Symptom of Love” on her latest single. Marking her first single in English, she sings in a diary-like charm over a guitar-laden melody as she tries to make light of the darkness that love can become.

jo from school – “Chicken”

This North London-born-and-raised singer-songwriter is done feeling like a “Chicken”. Visually represented as a half-arsed doubles game on a tennis court, she lingers in the back, a dull hum tracing the achey, whirlwind feelings of a breakup you didn’t want. Through yodel-like vocal strains and punchy lyrics, she grapples with shame, embarrassment and, understandably, fear.

SOFY – “DooYaa”

Announcing her long-awaited debut album, How To Perform Magic, will be shared in late September, Leicester-hailing, London-based singer-songwriter drops an undeniable indie anthem in “DooYaa”. Sharp production, a catchy hook, piercing vocals – it’s a stone-cold killer jam.

Jessie Marcella – “11:11 (Night Mix)”

Leeds-based electronic producer and composer Jessie Marcella is back with her atmospheric new single, 11:11 (Night mix), accompanied by her brand new EP of the same name, further expanding her sonic world into more conceptual and emotionally charged territory, blending neo-classical composition with electronic and dance influences.

Tia Gordon – “friends”

Tia Gordon is not to be slept on, and her latest EP “I asked the stars for this. x” is the ultimate testament to that. Standout track “friends” gets her feeling emotional and homesick about the time she spent working on the project all the way in America. Despite her struggles, it seems like it was all worth it because the result is a beautiful track that’s full of soul.

Any Young Mechanic – “Captain And Compass”

Five-piece contemporary folk band, Any Young Mechanic, are claiming “Captain & Compass” on their new track. Taking inspiration from Australian artist Vivienne Binns, who once described a cliché as a “little rabbit hole in the surface of society”, the single traces the intricacies of the human experience through lyricism that mirrors traditional folk storytelling – their go at a trip down that very rabbit hole.

Stephen Sanchez – “Home To Mother”

Singer-songwriter Stephen Sanchez returns with his divine new sophomore album, Love, Love Love, ahead of a headline slot at London’s The Roundhouse on Monday 11th May. The poptastic body of music cements his timeless appeal, with the lead single proving particularly vivacious.

Iceage – “The Weak”

Copenhagen indie-rock band Iceage returns after a five-year absence with their new album For Love of Grace & the Hereafter. The release is previewed by the second single, “The Weak”, a track carried by sharp lyrics and an intensity that signals the band’s evolving sound. The record, including this single, was captured last year at Silence Studio, a modest house-turned-studio tucked away in rural Sweden near the Norwegian border, with lyrics written just days before to capture a sense of risk and urgency.
