Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively reach settlement in ‘It Ends With Us’ lawsuit

It brings to an end a dispute that dates back to December 2024

The long-running legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has concluded with an undisclosed settlement.

In December 2024, the actor sued her It Ends With Us co-star and director, with her suit claiming that Baldoni exhibited behaviour that caused her “severe emotional distress”, arguing that after raising concerns about an unsafe working environment on set, she faced retaliation that extended into the film’s publicity period.

Baldoni denied the allegations made against him. He also countersued against Lively, as well as her husband Ryan Reynolds, but that case was dismissed last June. Lively’s original case also included a sexual harassment claim, but on April 2 a federal judge in California dismissed that aspect of the suit due to state jurisdictional grounds.

The case had been due to go to court on May 18, but a statement for both parties confirmed that a settlement has been agreed that means that will no longer go ahead. The particular details of said settlement have not been disclosed, but the joint statement asserted that both parties will “move forward” from the matter.

“The end product – the movie It Ends With Us – is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life. Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors – and all survivors – is a goal that we stand behind,” said lawyers for Baldoni and Lively on Monday (May 4), via Deadline.

“We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognise concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard,” it continued. “We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.”

The news comes despite Blake Lively claiming in early April that she intended to go to trial in a post on Instagram Stories.
