Enea Bastianini teases 2027 MotoGP “surprise” as he responds to Gresini links
Enea Bastianini has commented on recent reports linking him to a return to Gresini in MotoGP 2027
Tech3 KTM MotoGP rider Enea Bastianini says he “might surprise” with his 2027 contract, as he responds to links to a return to Gresini Ducati next year.
The seven-time MotoGP race winner lost his factory Ducati ride at the end of 2024 and joined the KTM stable with Tech3.
However, that move has largely proved to be difficult for Enea Bastianini, who has just one grand prix podium to his credit on the RC16.
Bastianini is understood to have a contract option that could keep him tied to KTM beyond this season, though there is uncertainty about the Austrian brand having a satellite team in 2027, as rumours intensify of Tech3 switching to Honda.
In recent weeks, Bastianini has been linked to a return to Gresini Ducati, with whom he race in 2022 and finished third in the standings. He has also been linked to a Trackhouse move.
Ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, he told Sky Italy: “I’m pleased people are talking about me.
“So far, I haven’t fought for what I set out to achieve when I joined KTM; there have been some difficulties that I still experience at times.
“I’m trying to do my best to get back to the front.
“Starting so far behind isn’t what I deserve, and it’s not what the bike deserves either.
“My future isn’t decided. We’ll have to figure out a few things this week, then I’ll make a decision.”
Bastianini later told the media: “I’m looking for the best solution for myself.
“We’ll see what it will be. I have a contract with KTM. I can’t say anything else about it.
“The truth is, I’m weighing a lot of things. I might surprise you. We’ll see.”
Reports of a return to Gresini came as the team also looks set to welcome Moto2 frontrunner Dani Holgado into its ranks for 2027.
Gresini’s current line-up of Alex Marquez and Fermin Aldeguer will leave at the end of the year, with the former set to take up a factory ride at KTM.
Aldeguer is to be placed at VR46, a move that angered Gresini and pushed its relationship with Ducati to breaking point. However, a new deal with the Italian brand is set to be confirmed.
Trackhouse’s position in the rider market has also received greater attention, with Ai Ogura now all but confirmed to be joining Yamaha next season.
As well as Bastianini, the likes of Joan Mir and Nicolo Bulega have been linked to the satellite Aprilia outfit.
