Nicolo Bulega takes pole position for the 2026 Dutch WorldSBK round at Assen despite a late crash.

Bulega and team-mate Iker Lecuona, fastest in final practice, exchanged the top spot until the world championship leader – winner of all six races so far this year – settled pole position with a new lap record.

But the Italian was forced to walk into parc ferme without his machine after his session ended with a lowside fall at turn one.

Marc VDS Ducati’s 2025 Assen pole qualifier Sam Lowes split the Aruba.it machines with second place, pushing Lecuona to third.

BMW’s Danilo Petrucci was best of the rest behind the all-Panigale front row, followed by a career best equalling fifth for Xavi Vierge (Yamaha) and the Bimota of Alex Lowes.

Somkiat Chantra has been declared unfit for the remainder of Saturday after his final practice accident. The HRC rider’s condition will be reviewed ahead of warm-up.

Race 1 starts at 15:30 local time (14:30 UK), when rain is a threat.
