Nicolo Bulega overcomes team-mate Iker Lecuona to keep his unbeaten start to the 2026 WorldSBK season alive despite a rain scare in race one at Assen.

Bulega, starting on pole and winner of all six previous races this season, briefly dropped behind Lecuona at the start before establishing control.

But when rain arrived with seven laps to go, Lecuona quickly reeled Bulega back in, then retook the lead.

Bulega fought back as the weather improved, with fellow front-row starter Sam Lowes joining the victory battle on his way to securing a first podium of the season.

Alvaro Bautista made it an all-Ducati top four, with Bimota’s Alex Lowes best of the rest ahead of Andrea Locatelli.

Miguel Oliveira was the leading BMW rider, the forner MotoGP rider narrowly getting the better of MGM Ducati’s Tarran Mackenzie after an intense battle for eighth.

Oliveira’s team-mate Danilo Petrucci, starting fourth, received a double long lap penalty for jumping the start.

The BMW rider’s afternoon then got even worse when he outbraked himself into the penalty loop and ran through the gravel.

HRC’s Somkiat Chantra missed race one, being declared unfit following an accident in FP3.
