Here’s your chance to ride bikes with pros and raise money for good causes while doing it.
The Twilight Global Challenge is a new in-person event taking place before the Athens Orthopedic Clinic Twilight Criterium — streaming live this weekend on Velo — that connects the cycling community with the pros taking on the USA CRITS series in a more personal, interactive way.
In addition to the live experience at Athens, the Twilight Global Challenge also includes a virtual element made possible through TrainingPeaks and Wahoo, allowing participants from around the globe to ride the Athens Twilight Criterium course alongside the pros.
The event takes place tonight, April 16, with the women racing at 7:15 p.m. EDT and the men at 8:20 p.m. EDT). Registration includes complimentary access to a premium TrainingPeaks account through the end of April.
You’ll have the chance to try your legs directly against the pros racing tomorrow in Athens, including current U.S. elite eo-ed madison national champion Laurel Rathbun; two-time winner of the Athens Twilight Criterium Bryan Gomez; 2023 Scottish national road race champion Tim Shoreman, and former Mexican National Champion and Olympian Yarely Salazar.
Because cycling should be accessible to all, entry is free, but those who are able to donate are strongly encouraged to do so. Each dollar raised benefits two causes: half funds rider support grants so cost is never the reason someone sits out, and half supports The White Line, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to make roads safer for cyclists and pedestrians across the country.
Register at this link, and make a donation here. The event will stream live on youtube April 16 starting at 7:15 p.m. EDT.
